🌊 𝗔 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰
Last month, our vessel Turtle Island crossed paths with solo ocean rower Kelsey Pfendler during her remarkable journey from California to Hawaii.

While on watch, Chief Officer Hou noticed via AIS that Kelsey’s 21-foot rowboat, Lily, was making very slow progress. Concerned that she might be in difficulty, he contacted her by radio to check that she was safe and ask whether she needed any food, water or assistance.

Thankfully, Kelsey was doing well. The two exchanged contact details, and Chief Officer Hou asked her to let him know when she safely reached Hawaii.

The encounter was a simple but powerful reminder of the longstanding tradition of mutual care at sea. Far from shore, seafarers look out for one another, recognising a shared responsibility for everyone on the water.

Kelsey is undertaking the voyage not only to test the limits of human endurance, but also to raise funds and awareness for the Whale Foundation, which supports the mental, physical and financial wellbeing of Grand Canyon River guides.

🇬🇷 Our global chartering team was delighted to host over 200 guests at our Pacific Basin Cocktail Reception in Athens on 24 June. The occasion was particularly special as our chartering colleagues from all around the world had gathered in Greece for a global team-building event, providing a rare opportunity for our entire team to be together in one place.

The evening brought together many of our valued cargo customers, tonnage providers, brokers and other partners and friends from across the Greek shipping community. As a relationship-driven business, we believe that long-term success is built on trust, collaboration and a deep understanding of our customers' and partners' needs.

Against the backdrop of a dynamic dry bulk market, the reception provided a wonderful opportunity to exchange views, strengthen existing relationships, reconnect with longstanding partners and forge new connections.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆.

Over the course of the three-day event, some 60 senior officers gathered for a comprehensive programme of structured dialogue, professional exchange and collective learning.

The discussions focused on driving operational excellence, addressing key topics such as safety culture, safe navigation, decarbonisation and drug trafficking prevention. Through these open forums, we continue to consolidate shared standards, reinforce best practices and ensure the highest level of safety and efficiency across our fleet.

We extend our appreciation to all participating officers, whose professionalism and active engagement contributed to the success of the seminar, and to navigating Pacific Basin towards a better future.
