According to a senior commerce ministry official, India aims to integrate deeply with global supply chains by focusing on lowering logistics costs, building holistic infrastructure with Gati Shakti planning, and utilizing R&D and technology.
"Will need to look for ways to better integrate with global value chains. We want to reduce logistics costs, strengthen supply chains, and attract investment. Gati Shakti is assisting in the planning of multi-modal connectivity across India. We take a comprehensive approach to infrastructure development in order to provide multimodal last-mile connectivity "At a Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) event, Sumita Dawra, Special Secretary, Commerce Ministry, stated.
The Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti National Master Plan is a Rs 100 lakh crore project that aims to develop comprehensive infrastructure in India.
According to her, integration with global supply chains provides opportunities for growth and employment.
