Why Labelling and Barcode Scanning are So Important in Modern Medium Sized Warehouses like Ours?
Not every warehouse offers extra cargo handling services even though they are customers' demands. But at Worldtrans’ warehouse, we offer various kinds of value added services for customers to help streamlining their supply chains. Some of which involve labelling and barcode/ QR-code scanning activities that are significant in the inbound procedures as soon as goods receipt has been confirmed.
Each of our label is printed with a unique reference number and a barcode for each pallet and carton box. Although it is not a completely automated system, all cartons would be labelled next to the QR codes that have already been tagged on when the manufacturer sent the shipment over. A mobile Bluetooth connected Barcode/QR code scanner would be used to scan and record the codes that appear on each carton in order. These codes include the data of the pallet numbers, Worldtrans’ reference numbers for each carton, the goods item (SKU) numbers, as well as the serial numbers for each item contained in each box.
All of the recorded data from the Barcode/QRcode scanner would be retrieved, decoded, verified, and ultimately uploaded into our fully in-house developed and customized warehouse management system (WMS). Based on the accuracy of the inventory shown in the well-designed WMS, it would provide maximum space utilization by assigning a best storage location. It also helps management in labour planning because the WMS would demonstrate tasks from a queue of all pending activities and give priorities feedbacks, thus achieving maximum labour productivity, e.g. the goods without a location assigned and are pending for storage.
Until customers give further instructions such as Pick & Pack, Outbound, Cycle Count, Cross Docking, etc, the Inbound procedures would be completed efficiently.
