Preparing today's seafarers for tomorrow's ships.

As we count down to Seatrade Maritime Crew Connect Global 2026, Capt. Somasundar Nair, Executive Director, Fleet Personnel Department, and Capt. Abhishek Sinha, Country Head of Fleet Philippines, sat down with Marcus Hand, Editor of Seatrade Maritime News.

Their conversation is about people. How we prepare seafarers for new fuels and new technology. How a cadet's first day at a training centre grows into a career at sea. And how the families waiting at home are an important part of the support network behind every safe voyage.

As Capt. Abhishek puts it, "Future ready ships will require a future ready crew."

A shipowner's trust is earned over time.

This month we welcome Gisigwilgwelk Aurora Borealis to our managed fleet, further expanding our longstanding partnership with Kumiai Navigation (Pte) Ltd. The LPG and ammonia-capable VLGC brings the relationship to two VLGCs and three bulk carriers under Fleet management.

Fleet Management CEO Capt. Rajalingam Subramaniam attended the vessel's naming ceremony at Kawasaki Heavy Industries' Sakaide Works in Japan ahead of delivery later this month.

Congratulations to Kumiai Navigation (Pte) Ltd, AltaGas, Kawasaki Heavy Industries and everyone involved in bringing this vessel into service. We look forward to supporting the safe, reliable and efficient operation of Gisigwilgwelk Aurora Borealis in the years ahead.
