Chattanooga told us exactly where to eat

We handed the planning over to and they sent us on a food crawl through the Southside to build the ultimate picnic spread.

The stops:
๐Ÿ“ โ€” curated cheese & charcuterie
๐Ÿ“ โ€” Michelin-recommended butcher shop
๐Ÿ“ โ€” James Beard Outstanding Bakery
๐Ÿ“ โ€” world-class gin, inside a historic train terminal

Final destination? A beautifully set table on the lawn of the Chattanooga Choo Choo ๐Ÿš‚

This is exactly how you do a cityโ€™s food scene.

Most people visit Chattanooga for the aquarium. But the ones who know? They come for this. ๐Ÿš‚

The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum is one of those places that genuinely stops you in your tracks โ€” no pun intended. Weโ€™re talking pre-1930 equipment, a working steam train thatโ€™s been running since 1911, and a ride straight through the Missionary Ridge Tunnel โ€” a 984-foot Horseshoe tunnel built in 1852. The only one of its kind in Tennessee.

This isnโ€™t a museum where you stare at things behind glass. You actually ride it. You hear the whistle. You feel the tracks. You pass through a tunnel that was built before the Civil War.

If youโ€™re planning a trip to Chattanooga, put this on your list. Itโ€™s the kind of experience that reminds you why slow travel is the best travel. ๐Ÿ›ค๏ธ

Chattanooga has a bar scene worth trying out โ€” and thanks to Chatts Tours with Briana Garza, we tried them all. ๐Ÿธ

๐Ÿ“ Gate 11 Distillery โ€” their gin is world-class. Literally award-winning.
๐Ÿ“ SIP โ€” right next door, pretty cocktails in a bar and restaurant setting that had me sipping slowly on purpose.
๐Ÿ“ Frothy Monkey โ€” donโ€™t let the name fool you. Coffee by day, cocktails by night.
๐Ÿ“ Whiskey Thief Rooftop Bar โ€” best views in Chattanooga, with cocktails to match.
๐Ÿ“ Iris Rooftop Bar โ€” an old bank turned into one of the coolest bars in the city.
๐Ÿ“ Stratus Rooftop Lounge โ€” light, refreshing cocktails by the pool. Yes please.

If youโ€™re planning a Chattanooga trip, this is your sign to book a tour. ๐Ÿฅ‚

Some trails carry more than footprints

Today I stepped into stillness. Today I stepped into story.

Booker T. Washington State Park in Chattanooga is one of only two state parks in Tennessee that stayed open to the Black community during segregation.

Thanks to the incredible women of H2O Life who guided us every step of the way. They didnโ€™t just lead a hike โ€” they brought this parkโ€™s history to life, sharing the stories and significance rooted in this land with so much knowledge and heart.

Lake views. Quiet trails. Fresh air. A pace that reminded me to actually breathe.

This isnโ€™t just a walk. Itโ€™s a reset. Itโ€™s a reclamation. Itโ€™s proof that the outdoors belongs to all of us โ€” and always did.

The best cure for jetlag? Skip the nap and get outside. ๐Ÿ‘‡

Enterprise South Nature Park sits on a former Army Ammunition Plant just outside the city โ€” and yes, the original WWII concrete bunkers are still out there on the trails.

Over 40 miles of hiking, biking, and walking paths through dense Tennessee hardwood forest. Chipmunks, oversized ducks, and zero crowds.

3 reasons the Ryman needs to be on your Nashville list ๐Ÿ‘‡

The acoustics are unreal โ€” built as a church in 1892, it was never actually designed for music. It just happened to be perfect for it.

The backstage tour takes you into the actual wings where Elvis, Dolly, and Hank Williams stood before stepping out on that stage.

Itโ€™s still a working venue. Youโ€™re not walking through a museum โ€” this place is alive.

And if thatโ€™s not enough โ€” Hank Williams, Patsy Cline and a then-unknown Elvis Presley all got their big break on that stage.

The Johnny Cash Museum is a 5 minute walk away. Do both. Trust me.

๐ŸŽธ Nashville does not mess around.
