At RLP Asia, we “Design Better Life” through life-centric, future-ready design—turning everyday constraints into opportunities to create more liveable environments.

For our 50th anniversary exhibition, “Beyond the Harbour”, we partnered with Hong Kong start-up Acoustic Metamaterials Group (AMG) and their Consultant, Simon Law, to create a custom fan-room acoustic screen from upcycled plastic. Its engineered sub wavelength structure absorbs machinery noise while allowing air to circulate freely, keeping the space cool, quiet, and comfortable for visitors. This local collaboration puts circular thinking into practice, giving plastic waste a new, high-performance purpose.

為慶祝五十周年展覽「港匠築跡 Beyond the Harbour」，RLP Asia 攜手香港初創企業靜音科技集團及其顧問 Simon Law，以升級再造的塑膠，為展廳風機房量身打造隔音屏障。屏障內部設有精心設計的次波長結構，有效吸收機械運作的噪音，同時保持空氣流通，為訪客營造清涼、寧靜的觀展環境。是次合作結合創新技術與循環思維，將廢棄塑膠轉化為兼具隔音與通風功能的設計，賦予物料嶄新用途，將可持續理念融入觀展體驗。

At RLP Asia, our commitment to “Design Better Life” is reflected in our longstanding embrace of circular thinking—looking beyond a material’s first use to help create a more sustainable built environment.

Our 50th anniversary exhibition, “Beyond the Harbour”, brings this circular approach to life. Alongside green-building partner Huge Power Construction Limited—spearheaded by Director Vincent Chan—and supported by our technical consultant Gammon Construction, we are putting our zero-waste ambition into practice. Rejecting the industry norm of single-use structures, our exhibition’s structural framework utilizes reusable metal scaffolding that will be completely dismantled and returned to circulation post-exhibition.

RLP Asia 一直秉持「設計更美好生活」的理念，將循環思維深植於設計與物料選擇之中，延續資源使用價值，構建更可持續的建築環境。

RLP Asia 50 周年展覽「港匠築跡 Beyond the Harbour」亦將這份理念付諸實踐。事務所攜手綠色建築合作夥伴浩力建築及其董事 Vincent Chan，並在技術顧問金門建築的支援下，採用可重用的金屬棚架搭建展覽結構，取代單次即棄的搭建模式。展覽結束後，棚架將全數拆卸並重新投入使用，讓物料持續發揮價值，將零廢棄的願景化為實際行動。

To mark our 50th anniversary, ‘Beyond the Harbour’ presents a circular, zero-waste exhibition experience, crafted alongside local pioneers like Kooprint, founded by visionary entrepreneur Joseph Luk. Moving away from landfill-bound foam boards, vinyl, and single-use timber, our installations feature 100% recyclable FSC En-board—ensuring every component is reused or recycled, giving materials a purposeful second life.

At RLP Asia, we believe true innovation does not abandon tradition; it adapts it—using forward-looking design and technology to evolve our heritage into resilient, future-ready landscapes.

For RLP Asia’s 50th anniversary exhibition, Beyond the Harbour, contemporary ceramic artist Mariane Chan created bespoke ceramics inspired by Hong Kong’s coastal architecture. Through clean, minimalist forms and a highly modern design language, her pieces strip traditional Eastern clay practices down to their structural essence. By utilizing raw, elemental earth to mirror the silhouette of our shoreline, Chan translates traditional material sensibility into a sleek, future-facing art form.

This drive to push boundaries while staying grounded in local ecology lies at the very heart of RLP Asia’s philosophy. It is vividly brought to life in the CIC–Zero Carbon Park—a pioneering project where architecture, native landscape, and state-of-the-art environmental technology converge.

At RLP Asia, we believe that great architecture does not overwrite history; it enters into a continuous dialogue with it, ensuring the soul of a city remains vibrant across generations.

For our 50th anniversary exhibition, “Beyond the Harbour”, we collaborated with Yuet Tung China Works, Hong Kong’s last remaining hand-painted porcelain factory, to create a bespoke Guangcai porcelain plate. Every motif is meticulously painted by hand before firing, carrying forward techniques refined across four generations of the family— from master artisans’ traditional flora-and-fauna motifs to the contemporary interpretations of the next generation.

This dedication to honoring legacy while shaping the future lies at the very heart of RLP Asia’s philosophy. Xiqu Centre, designed by RLP Asia in collaboration with Revery Architecture, serves as a grand, contemporary sanctuary for Cantonese opera. The Centre acts as a bridge between eras, housing an ancient performance art within a striking, modern gateway designed to engage and inspire future generations.

RLP Asia 相信好的建築並非覆蓋歷史，而是承接城市原有故事，讓文化脈絡與生活記憶得以代代相傳。
為慶祝五十周年展覽「港匠築跡 Beyond the Harbour」 ，RLP Asia 與香港碩果僅存的手繪瓷廠粵東磁廠合作，創作專屬廣彩瓷盤。每款圖案均由工匠親手繪製，再經燒製完成，承載著家族四代相傳的技藝：從老師傅筆下的花鳥紋樣，到新一代全新演繹的當代風格，讓廣彩在保留傳統之餘，亦繼續融入當下生活。
這份承傳與創新並行的精神，亦是 RLP Asia 的設計核心。由 RLP Asia 與 Revery Architecture 共同設計的戲曲中心，以當代建築語言回應粵劇文化，為歷史悠久的表演藝術提供全新的演出與交流場所，讓不同年代的人透過建築認識粵劇，引領並啟發新世代。

At RLP Asia, we believe culturally responsive design is deeply rooted in the collective memories, local identities and everyday experiences that give a place its character.

For our 50th anniversary exhibition, “Beyond the Harbour”, we collaborated with renowned Chinese calligrapher and truck-signage artisan Yeung Kai to craft the exhibition title. His expressive Beiwei Kaishu calligraphy evokes the nostalgic, familiar lettering found on Hong Kong’s heritage shop signs and commercial trucks. Refined over decades of practice, Yeung’s meticulous process begins with hand-drawn brush characters, each carefully adjusted for balance and proportion, before being transformed into stencils for application.

This dialogue between heritage and contemporary expression lies at the very heart of RLP Asia’s philosophy. It is vividly brought to life in projects like Lee Tung Avenue, where the historic 1930s pre-war shophouses have been revitalised, seamlessly integrating local history into a vibrant, modern streetscape and community gathering place.

RLP Asia 深信，建築設計的文化底蘊，植根於城市的集體記憶、地方身份，以及日常生活之中。
為慶祝五十周年展覽「港匠築跡 Beyond the Harbour」 ， RLP Asia 邀請北魏體書法家、貨車車身字體工藝匠人楊佳為展覽題字。其遒勁筆觸令人聯想到昔日香港店舖招牌、霓虹燈牌及貨車上的熟悉字體。楊佳先以毛筆逐字手繪，細心調整字形的比例與平衡，再製成字模，將淬鍊多年的手藝與城市記憶凝聚於展覽名稱之中。
這種融匯傳統與當代的設計語言 ，亦體現於 RLP Asia 設計的利東街項目。項目從灣仔豐富的街區文化汲取靈感，保育並活化 1930 年代的戰前歷史建築，將歷史脈絡融入今日充滿活力的步行街與公共空間。
