“Ecommerce has been on the rise massively in recent years, but it may not be the next true frontier for shopping as mcommerce continues to become more popular.

But just what is mcommerce, and how do we compare ecommerce vs. mcommerce?

Simply put, mcommerce involves shopping through a mobile device (typically a smartphone), while ecommerce involves shopping online through your computer.”

The India-built, ocean-going ferry MV Ma Lisha, yesterday docked at the KMC Bond, Kumaka, Region One as it completed its maiden voyage far quicker than its predecessor.

The journey which was set to take 12-15 hours actually took about 18 hours after the vessel set sail from Kingston, Georgetown on Thursday. Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill who was a passenger on the vessel’s maiden voyage said “This is a fulfillment of a commitment that was made to the people of Region One. We could have sailed way before but we had to wait to get some civil works done to facilitate the mooring. This was successfully executed.”

Edghill said that most of those who were travelling had done so for the first time to Region One, as they figured it was a big boat and more comfortable. The MV Ma Lisha is worth some $2.5 billion and was constructed in India after a contract was signed between the Trans-port and Harbours Department (T&HD), Guyana, and Indian company, Gar-den Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE) back in January 2021. The government was able to fund the acquisition of the vessel via a loan/ grant it obtained from the Indian government.

Persons residing at Coomacka, Amelia’s Ward, Wismar and Mackenzie in Region Ten, will soon benefit from several roadworks in their communities, as some $1.6 billion was set aside in budget 2023 for community roads in the region.

Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill conducted an outreach to the region on Thursday, where he met with residents and inspected a number of roads identified for repair.

“This is part of our continuing work to engage with communities, ensuring that once we make interventions in communities, it is meeting the needs of people,” Minister Edghill said while meeting with residents at Amelia’s Ward.

Residents of Coomacka Mines will be receiving an asphaltic road for the first time, while similar works are set to be done in the community of Nottingham.

5 EU countries to sponsor Guyana’s bid for Schengen visa-free travel:

President of Guyana Dr Irfaan Ali has revealed that at least five European Union (EU) countries have agreed to sponsor Guyana’s bid for Schengen visa-free travel.

The Head of State made the disclosure while interacting with the media during a site visit to the new Eccles to Diamond four-lane highway on Thursday afternoon.

“In terms of the removal of the visa, you have to have sponsoring countries, and I’m very pleased to tell you that we have at least five countries that have agreed to sponsor us to begin the process within the EU itself. But there’s a bigger issue that we have to address, and this is our passports and what is required for future travelling.”
