Did you know that Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is one of the most common health challenges seafarers face?

It can quietly impact your heart health and eventually, your ability to stay fit for duty. At V.Ships, we believe that fueling your body correctly is a long-term investment in your career.

By making small shifts like choosing potassium-rich foods and cutting back on hidden salts in processed snack, you’re ensuring your "internal engine" stays reliable for the long game.

Stay fit. Stay sharp. Stay safe.

After the V.Group Officer Conference in Istanbul, our team went on a short city tour in the center of the city 🕌

Walking through Istanbul was a great way to continue the intense conference days in a more relaxed atmosphere. Spending time together outside of work and conferences truly helps build team spirit. It creates trust, understanding, and the kind of connections that naturally carry over into our everyday collaboration.

Moments like these are especially valuable 🙌🏻
V.Care about our crew 💚

Halfway through the contract, routine sets in, but the sea stays demanding.

Staying sharp is more than willpower; it’s about managing your "human systems" with the same care as the ship’s engines.

Use these five simple resets to maintain your focus and situational awareness at a high level until you reach the final port.

V.Care supports you from start to finish.

The maritime industry never sleeps, but the human mind wasn't built for 24/7 high-alert. To maintain peak operational readiness, you must find "harbors of stillness" throughout your day.

V.Care encourages every crew member to practice the "Five-Minute Reset." Whether it’s stepping out onto the wing for a breath of sea air or taking a moment of silence in your cabin, these short mindful activities prevent burnout and keep your focus sharp for the long haul.

A well-rested mind is a safer mind. What are your “Five-Minute Reset” routines? Share in the comments below.

Life at sea can be isolating and during long transits, our thoughts can sometimes "drift." Distorted thinking is when our brain gives individuals a false reading of the situation, which may compromise focus.

V.Care believes that by learning to identify and challenge negative thought patterns, you maintain the clarity needed to protect yourself and your crew. Don’t let the "mental fog" dictate your safety or your mood.

Creating a more inclusive maritime industry means more than opening doors — it means building the right environment for everyone to thrive at sea. As our female cadet initiative with International Seaways enters its second year, we’re proud to see meaningful progress driven by real experiences, honest feedback, and a shared commitment to change.

From onboard facilities and workplace culture training to stronger support systems both at sea and ashore, the first year of the programme has delivered valuable learnings that are helping shape safer, more inclusive mixed-gender crews for our partners.

On this International Day for Women in Maritime, we celebrate the next cohort of cadets joining this programme and reaffirm our commitment to increasing female representation at sea. By investing in diverse talent today with our partners, we’re helping build stronger teams, fresh perspectives, and a more resilient maritime workforce for the future.

Hear from Deck Cadet Erica Joyce Rafael as she shares her experiences and gives advice to future female seafarers.

⚓️Advice from captain 💪🚢

Over 20 years at sea taught him that the hardest step is the first one — fear, stress, and uncertainty are part of the journey. But with time and experience, what once felt overwhelming becomes second nature. Growth at sea, like in life, comes one step at a time. 💚

When the unexpected happens onboard, the crew's reaction time is critical, but so is clarity.

Staying calm during high-stress situations is a skill that can be learned and practiced, and ensures the safety of the entire crew.

V.Care recognises that a calm mind is your most important safety tool. By keeping your head clear, you are not just managing stress but actively preventing human error and protecting everyone on board.

In a high-pressure environment onboard, clarity and focus are crucial in keeping the vessel and crew safe.

All you need is 30 seconds to reset. By stepping back and steadying your pace for just half a minute, you clear the mental noise and regain the situational awareness needed to make the right call.

It’s a small investment that ensures you, your crew, and your ship stay out of harm's way. How do you reset?
