As Dr. George Kriezis, Technical Director of Neptune Group, highlighted during the award acceptance speech, the Genesis Project follows Neptune’s corporate philosophy and honours the vision of our Chair of the Board, Melina Travlos, reflecting Neptune’s commitment to a fleet that is more modern, more efficient and better prepared for the needs of tomorrow’s shipping.

Neptune Pireas, the first vessel of our Genesis Project, has officially joined our fleet, marking a significant milestone for the entire Neptune family.

Named after Piraeus, the historic port where Neptune’s journey began more than 50 years ago, Neptune Pireas carries our heritage forward while representing an important step in our fleet renewal journey.

Built at Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding and sailing under the Greek flag, she reflects our continued commitment to innovation, operational excellence and sustainable shipping.

Neptune Lines implements voluntary re-routing measures in the Hellenic Trench — a critical habitat for endangered s***m whales in the Eastern Mediterranean.

With our vessels crossing this area more than 200 times each year, this decision significantly reduces the risk of ship strikes and contributes to the long-term protection of one of the Mediterranean’s most vulnerable marine species.

Following scientific input and engagement with IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare), OceanCare, Pelagos Cetacean Research Institute and WWF Greece, Neptune Lines’ decision to adjust its shipping routes reaffirms our commitment to responsible operations and marine biodiversity.
