🌿 Thinking about Paros in September?

Here’s something I really love about this month: summer is still here, but the island has started to slow down. 💙

The sea is still warm, the days are usually around 26-28°C, restaurants and shops are still open, and you can enjoy the beaches without quite the same August rush. It’s also a wonderful time to explore the villages, take a long lunch, drive around the island or simply stay by the sea until sunset. 🌊

Early September still has plenty of summer energy. Later in the month, things become noticeably quieter.

For me, that balance is what makes September so special on Paros: you still get the sunshine, swimming and island life, but there’s a little more room to breathe.

Would you choose September for a trip to Paros? Or do you prefer the full-on energy of July and August? ☀️

I’ve just written a full guide to Paros in September, including weather, beaches, villages, what’s open, getting around and what to expect throughout the month.

There’s a side of Paros that looks completely different from the postcard beaches 💙

Head inland and the bright blue sea gives way to golden hills, little white houses, fields, olive trees and tiny roads winding through the landscape.

And then there are moments like this, when the afternoon light hits the hills and suddenly the whole island looks almost unreal. ✨

This is one of the reasons I love exploring beyond the coast. Paros isn’t just beaches and blue water. There’s a whole beautiful landscape waiting to be discovered inland.

How do you like this view? 🌿

Meanwhile, somewhere on Paros… 🐾😌

No road trips.
No sightseeing.
No itinerary.

Just a sunny spot, a comfortable place to sit, and absolutely no reason to hurry.

Honestly, the cats on Paros might have island life figured out better than the rest of us. 😸💙

Have you noticed how every Greek island seems to have its own little feline residents? 🐾

Five villages on Paros you should visit 💙

If you're visiting Paros for the first time, choosing where to go can be surprisingly difficult.

Here is an overview that can help you decide:

✨ Naoussa - lively harbour, beautiful little streets, restaurants and nightlife.

🏛️ Parikia - history, the old town, shops, cafés and the island's main port.

🌿 Lefkes - peaceful mountain village, traditional streets and beautiful views.

🏡 Marpissa - quieter, traditional and a little closer to everyday island life.

🌊 Aliki - relaxed seaside atmosphere, fishing boats, calm water and waterfront tavernas.

Which one sounds most like your kind of place? 💙

There’s another Paros beyond the beaches. 💙

Leave the coast behind, take one of the little roads inland, and suddenly the island feels completely different.

Rolling hills, dry stone walls, tiny villages in the distance, endless blue sky… and sometimes you can drive for quite a while without seeing another car.

This is the side of Paros I find especially beautiful. No beach clubs, no crowds, no plans, just the landscape, the wind and the feeling that you’ve got the whole island to yourself.

And this is exactly where having a car can open up a different side of Paros. 🚗

Would you explore the inland of Paros, or would you happily spend your whole holiday by the sea? 🌊

🚗 Do you actually need a rental car in Paros?

The short answer: not necessarily.

If your holiday is mostly about beaches, villages, restaurants and the main tourist spots, the local buses can get you surprisingly far.

But if you want to explore the quieter side of Paros - little inland roads, remote beaches, viewpoints and places where you might not see another person for ages - having a car gives you a completely different kind of freedom. 😌

So I’d say:

🚌 Bus: great for a relaxed holiday around the main places.

🚗 Car: better if exploring is part of the adventure.

And there’s always the third option: a bit of both. 💙

What would you choose for a week on Paros? Bus, car, or a mixture of both?

One Perfect Day in Lefkes 💙🇬🇷

If you have the time, you should definitely visit the hilltop village of Lefkes. Once the capital of Paros and a refuge from pirate raids, it is now one of the island's most peaceful villages, with breathtaking views, charming cats and beautiful Cycladic alleys.

Today, I'd love to share with you my favourite way to discover Lefkes at a relaxed pace...

☀️ Start your visit by wandering through the village's beautiful alleys. There are so many little corners to discover: colourful flower pots, pink bougainvillea and charming little squares – perfect for taking photos. 📸😊

⛪ Continue along the main alley until you reach Agia Triada, one of the most beautiful marble-built churches on Paros.

☕ Enjoy a Greek coffee or a refreshing drink in the little square in front of the church and simply watch village life unfold.

🏛️ Take a few minutes to visit the charming Folklore Museum. It's only one room, but it's filled with stories of traditional island life.

🐾 Say hello to the friendly cats that seem to have claimed every sunny corner of Lefkes.

🍹 End the day on a cosy terrace with a cold drink... and don't be surprised if a local feline decides to join you.

No rush.
No itinerary to follow.
Just slow down and enjoy one of the most beautiful villages on Paros. 💙

If you have any questions about Lefkes or Paros, feel free to ask in the comments. 😊

Step back in time in the heart of Lefkes. 💙

Have you ever visited the Folklore Museum of Lefkes?

It was the first folklore museum established on Paros and is filled with objects generously donated by local families. From traditional household items and handmade textiles to farming tools and everyday utensils, each exhibit tells a story of island life in generations past.

It's a small museum—just one room—but it is definitely worth a visit. Every corner is filled with history, and it's a wonderful way to experience the traditions and everyday life of Paros before tourism transformed the island.

If you're exploring Lefkes, it's well worth taking a few minutes to step inside. You can find it on left hand side on the main alley that leads down to the main church Agia Triada ⛪️

Let me me know how you experienced it 😀💙🇬🇷

Not everything on Paros is blue and white... 💛🌵

Look a little closer and you'll discover giant prickly pear cacti covered in vibrant yellow fruit.

These colourful fruits are called prickly pears. They're found across the Greek islands and have been enjoyed for generations, whether eaten fresh (after carefully removing the tiny spines) or turned into jams and other local treats.

It's little surprises like these that make exploring Paros so much fun.

Have you ever tasted a prickly pear?
