What is Greece? It is a place where ancient heritage rises casually from the landscape.
A marble column in the corner of a vineyard. A theatre with acoustics tuned to the sound of
the Aegean wind. A temple positioned with such precision that the setting sun seems to be
part of a choreographed performance.
The same waters that once carried philosophers, traders, and myths now bring you to
secluded coves nestled beneath ancient citadels. You drop anchor where triremes once
glided. You dine within sight of stones that have outlived empires.
And then you reach Cape Sounion. The Temple of Poseidon appears to be suspended
between the sea and the sky. It is a marble sentinel that has watched the Aegean for nearly
2,500 years.
When the horizon turns gold and the columns are silhouetted against the light, you begin to
understand what Greece is all about. It is a place where the gods carefully chose the view
and left it untouched for you to arrive at by sea.
