The Safety Action Group (SAG), a key operational committee under the Safety Management System (SMS), convened its First Quarterly Meeting to review and strengthen safety practices at Banjul International Airport.
Meeting on a quarterly basis, the SAG focuses on discussing safety strategies, assessing risks, and ensuring the effective implementation of safety actions.

The committee comprises of middle management representatives from all GCAA departments, alongside stakeholders from Ground Handling Companies, Airline Security Companies, and Aviation Fuelling Companies. These members serve as Safety Focal Persons, working collaboratively to promote and uphold safety standards across the aviation sector.

Today, the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) proudly joined the national commemoration of International Women’s Day held in Badibu Kerewan, North Bank Region, organized by the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Welfare.

We were honored to be represented by a team of dedicated female staff who participated in this important celebration, highlighting the strength, resilience, and achievements of women across The Gambia.

GCAA has concluded a five-day International Civil Aviation Organisation Assistance .mission that kicked off on Monday 23rd March 2026.
This support mission sought to provide GCAA with relevant expert guidance in reviewing adapting and streamlining the draft Aviation Security gaps corrective action plan. The blueprint details how GCAA seeks to address Aviation Security gaps highlighted/observed during the last ICAO audit conducted in 2018.
The highly participatory and evidence-based sessions drew participants from Aviation Security Operations, Quality Assurance and Quality Control Units of the GCAA.
In his debrief, the resource person, Mr Ademola, a seasoned Aviation Security expert with decades of experience thanked GCAA management for its relentless dedication to continuously improving Aviation Security operations in line with ICAO standards.

In concert with relevant stakeholders in the Aviation ecosystem, GCAA today concluded a two-day workshop convened to validate the draft National Civil Aviation Policy (NCAP).
The highly interactive engagement provided key actors in the Air transport industry the opportunity to thoroughly review, provide input and make meaning of the draft Aviation policy document.
In his welcome remarks, the Director General of GCAA Mr FAnsu Bojang asserted that among other things, the National Civil Aviation Policy seeks to align our policy with Standard and Recommended Practices promulgated by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). He further disclosed that the Aviation policy blueprint clearly streamlines roles and responsibilities of relevant stakeholders in the industry.

The workshop provides relevant participants the opportunity to critique the Aviation Security contingency guidelines. The document is designed at provide the Airport a structured, coordinated and reliable response mechanism that enhances effecient response to all acts of unlawful interference in Airport Operations.
