GCAA is pleased to welcome its latest batch of Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting personnel who have just successfully completed their ICAO certified Rescue and Fire Fighting training course at the prestigious Nigeria Civil Aviation Training Academy.
The eighteen-man batch underwent five weeks of intensive training that coupled extensive theory with practical hands- on exposure to critical aircraft structure and design . This training has further enhanced their capacitues and understanding of the complexities of aircraft fires and adequately equipped them with the requisite industry level tools and expertise needed to ensure effective and efficient response to all categories of aircraft emergencies.

GCAA SENDS 18 EMPLOYEES FOR BASIC AERODROME RESCUE CERTIFICATION TRAINING

At the break of dawn on Sunday 19th July 2026, GCAA bade farewell to eighteen staff of the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Services Unit who are dispatched to pursue industry certification training in Nigeria. .

This batch of staff is off to the prestigious Nigeria College of Aviation Training where they are expected to undergo five weeks of intensive training in aerodrome rescue and fire fighting theory and practice leading to their certification for industry practice..

This basic aerodrome rescue and fire fighting course will further equip and broader participants understanding of basic aircraft rescue principles coupled with practical hands-on appreciation of industry tested procedures and processes of aircraft emergency rescue with a deliberate focus on aircraft body types and effective rescue equipment/tools.

This training is part of GCAA management's strategic drive to ensure continuous capacity development of employees in line with ICAO Sandards and Recommended Practices .
