Thankyou to everyone who has been donating to WrexRail. This week Iwan has been out giving a masterclass in modelling to a local scout group. 18 scouts, 1 cub and 1 beaver. Next generation of modellers... . Impressive work by all of them. I am sure you would agree!

Second Open Doors Day at Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway tomorrow

See us tomorrow for our second Open Doors day!

We loved seeing people today for our talks about the history of the railway and our walks along the old line across town.

Join us tomorrow at 11:00 and 14:00 for talks and at 11:30 and 14:30 for tours along the line at Welshpool Raven Square Station.

Step inside some of Welshpool’s best-loved historic places, completely free of charge.

Visit Welshpool has brought together Powis Castle and Garden, Powis Estates, Welshpool Town Council, Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, and Y Lanfa Library and Museum for a packed weekend of local history, stories and places to explore.

What’s on:

🏰 Powis Castle and Garden
Free entry to the garden, Clive Museum and Ballroom.
Garden: 10am to 5pm
Clive Museum and Ballroom: 11am to 3.30pm, last entry 3pm
No booking needed.

🚂 Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, Raven Square Station
Free talks in the Display Shed on the history of the line and its engines at 11am and 2pm on both days.

Free guided walking tours of the old town section of the railway line at 11.30am and 2.30pm. Please meet at Raven Square Station at least 10 minutes before the tour begins.

Please note: railway travel is not included in the free Open Doors programme, but heavily discounted rail tickets are available. See the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway website for details.

🏛️ Welshpool Town Hall
Open 9.30am to 4pm on both days. Explore the Assembly Chamber, Court Room and cells, Council Chamber and Judges Retiring Room.
No booking needed.

📚 Y Lanfa Library and Museum
Open 9.30am to 3pm on both days.

🚗 Free parking is available at Church Street car park, SY21 7DD, throughout the weekend.
