We are a small local removals and clearance company that has been running for 36 years. My name is Stuart Barter, and i am the 'son', it was my fathers business for 35 years and he built up a reputation for his cleanliness, punctuality, speed, customer service and his ability to take care of your items like they were his own, plus he was a piano specialist. I worked for him for the last 10 years t

hat he had the buisness and learnt everything I know from him, and not only did I learn how to do the job properly I learned that the customers satisfaction is all that matters. If you are local to Worthing you may know the business as 'Peter Barter Removals' but I changed it to 'Barter & Son' when he passed the business on to me, people may wonder why I called it Barter & Son if it is only the son? There are two reasons for this; As it was my fathers business for a very long time and he built it up from scatch I wanted to keep his name alive and out of respect of what he has achieved, and also after what my father taught me over the years while I was working with him, I wanted that to live on in the business, and will still keep to the excellent standard he always gave. I carry out all the jobs I quote myself, which customers find to be helpful as they arn't trying to communicate with different people in the days leading up to their move.

We are two man team with plenty of experience in moving anything from household items to high value antiques, we also specialise in furniture assembly dismantling and assembly.

Not moving but need a clear out/ garage or loft clearance? Maybe you’re clearing a house ready for sale? We’ve got you covered. Unlike a lot of clearance companies we will give you a set price for the labour and then give you a copy of all the tip receipts so you know exactly what you pay for. We clear any size job, from mansions down to a little shed. We take up and clear carpets as well if needed.
