🚛 Job Opportunity: Day Shift Yard Operative / Maintenance Assistant / On-Site Handyman

Location: Shireoaks, Worksop
Reports to: Yard Manager
Hours: 30-40 Hours Per Week
Salary: £14.50 Per Hour

About the Role
We’re looking for a proactive and hands-on Yard Operative / Maintenance Assistant to support our Yard Manager in keeping our site safe, tidy, and well-maintained. You’ll play a key role in maintaining the overall appearance and functionality of the yard and surrounding areas, as well as assisting with general site upkeep and material replenishment.

Key Responsibilities
• Operate FLT / Ride-On vehicles to support the Yard Manager with inbound vehicle movements.
• Carry out yard maintenance, including:
o Hedges, trees, and general groundskeeping
o Floor and car park upkeep
o Litter control, bins, and skips management
o Window and gutter cleaning
o Painting and minor repairs
• Replenish materials and supplies throughout the site.
• Act as an on-site handyman for all site maintenance tasks.
• Wash and maintain onsite vehicles.
• Assist Yard Manager with scheduled deep cleans in fridge/freezer areas.
• Proactively identify areas around the yard that require attention or improvement.

About You
• A practical, self-motivated individual with a strong attention to detail.
• Able to work independently and take initiative in maintaining site standards.
• Comfortable operating FLT / Ride-On machinery (training can be provided if needed).
• Flexible and reliable, with a positive “can-do” attitude.
• 18th Edition Electrical Certificate preferred but not essential.
• *Must Have a Valid Driving Licence*

Shift: Night Shift (10 hours per night)
Schedule: 9-week rolling rota
Hours: Average 46 hours per week
Salary: Competitive (plus overtime opportunities)

The Role:
We are looking for a reliable and hard-working Night Shift Warehouse Operative to join our team. You’ll be responsible for the safe and efficient handling of goods within our temperature-controlled warehouse. This includes unloading deliveries, checking stock, picking and packing orders, and preparing goods for distribution.

This is a physically active role that requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities:

🔹 Receiving & Handling Goods

Unload deliveries from trucks and vans (manually or using equipment)
Check incoming stock against documentation and inspect for damage or discrepancies
Sort and store items in designated temperature zones (ambient, chilled, and frozen)

🔹 Order Fulfillment

Pick and prepare customer orders accurately
Label and load goods onto vehicles for dispatch

✔ Physically fit – capable of lifting, bending, and standing for long periods

The team at RDS wanted to give back to our incredible drivers and their families for all the time they spend away on the road — and for the first time ever, we opened our doors to the local community so we’re no longer “just trucks that drive through the village”.

Despite the weather, what an absolutely fantastic turnout for our first ever Open Day! We hope you all had a cracking time and thoroughly enjoyed yourselves. 🌟
