Are we making pallet distribution pricing more complicated than it needs to be?

At Wright Freight, we’re looking at trialling a simpler approach to pallet pricing with our existing customers.

Two areas in particular:

Third-party collections
Instead of a variable collection charge based on the collection postcode, we’re looking at introducing a single fixed third-party collection surcharge.

Whole-pound pricing
We’re also considering removing pence from pallet rates altogether.

So instead of £45.48, the rate would simply be rounded to the nearest pound — some rates would go down, some would go up.

It’s not about increasing prices.

It’s about making pricing simpler, clearer and more predictable.

We’ll be trialling both ideas with our existing customer base and, depending on customer feedback, we’ll look to introduce them more widely over the coming weeks.

So the question is:

Would you prefer a simpler pallet rate card with whole-pound pricing and a fixed third-party collection charge?

💻 More than a customer portal — a system built around the way you work.

Wright Freight customers benefit from access to our bespoke online portal, providing greater visibility, easier shipment management and a clearer view of transport activity.

Our system was developed from the ground up in close partnership with Nash Solutions, an IT company we work closely with to continually improve and expand the platform.

Because the system is bespoke, we are not restricted to a rigid, off-the-shelf solution. Where customers require specific add-ons, reporting tools, workflows or integrations, we can assess what is possible and develop functionality around their operational requirements.

We have done this for existing customers in the past, including using APIs to connect systems, reduce duplication and improve the flow of information between platforms.

Alongside the technology, every customer is supported by a dedicated account manager who understands their business and remains available when direct support is needed.

Technology provides the visibility. Bespoke development provides the flexibility. Our people provide the support.

A bittersweet team update! 👋

Last Friday, we said goodbye to Reece Clarke as he moved on to an exciting new opportunity. We'd like to thank Reece for all his hard work, dedication, and contributions to the team, and we wish him every success in the future.
