FANCY YOURSELF AS A LE MANS WINNER?
Ferrari has pulled the covers off a limited-series track day version of its Le Mans-winning LMH car, named the 499P Modificata.
In an interesting piece of news, Sportscar365 have explained:-
Unveiled at the Finali Mondiali event at Mugello, the 499P Modificata is a substantially modified version of the car that was driven to victory in this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans by Antonio Giovinazzi, James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi.
Intended for non-competitive track use, the new car is aimed at gentleman drivers and developed beyond the technical regulations imposed by the FIA and ACO to make it eligible for competition in the Hypercar class.
As a result, the total combined power output produced by the V6 engine and the hybrid powertrain sits at 640 kW (860 horsepower).
In contrast to the racing car, which sees hybrid deployment from the front axle limited to speeds above 190 kph (118 mph), the Modificata allows the hybrid boost to be activated at low speed as well.
Additionally, a Push-to-Pass system has been introduced, which allows the drivers to active an additional 120 kW (160 hp) for a limited amount of time. The system can be used by pressing a button on the back of the steering wheel, with the extra power only available at full throttle and for no more than seven seconds per activation.
In a notable contrast to its racing sibling, which uses Michelin tires, the 499P Modificata sits on Pirelli rubber with measurements of 310/710-18 at the front and 340/710-18 rear.
The compound, based on FIA regulations, was aimed at emphasizing the car’s driveability and maximizing handling feedback for non-professional drivers, optimizing warm up times and reducing performance degradation during long runs.
The 499P Modificata retains the cockpit and ergonomics of the racing car, while also offering a complete recalibration of the suspension set-up, electronic controllers and engine mappings.
Ferrari’s Corse Clienti department will organize the Sport Prototipi Clienti program starting in 2024, where owners of the car will be offered maintenance as well as technical and logistical support for dedicated track events.
