A big change for anyone driving into Oxford!
From Monday 28 September 2026, Oxford's new Traffic Filter trial will replace the temporary congestion charge. You cannot pay in advance, on the day or at all to drive through the filter.

When you are hiring a CAR, MPV or CAR DERIVED VAN from TVR and travelling into Oxford City, please take a moment to check your route before you set off.

The filters will operate at six locations:
Hythe Bridge Street – 7am–7pm, Monday–Sunday
St Cross Road – 7am–7pm, Monday–Sunday
St Clements Street – 7am–7pm, Monday–Sunday
Thames Street – 7am–7pm, Monday–Sunday
Marston Ferry Road – 7am–9am & 3pm–6pm, Monday–Saturday
Hollow Way – 7am–9am & 3pm–6pm, Monday–Saturday

The filters operate all year round, including bank holidays. (Oxfordshire County Council)
