Earlier this month, volunteers from Team Simarco traded spreadsheets and emails for gardening gloves as they spent the day supporting our nominated charity Trust Links - Community Mental Health at their Cressing Temple Barns gardening project 🌱

Trust Links - Community Mental Health is an incredible local charity supporting mental health and wellbeing through therapeutic gardening, social inclusion, and community activities, creating a welcoming outdoor space where people can relax, connect, and get involved.

Armed with spades, wheelbarrows, and varying levels of gardening expertise (with some nearly digging all the way to Australia!), the team got stuck into a few hours of hard work, teamwork, and plenty of laughs along the way.

European Export Development Manager, Steven Wherrett, said:

“It was nice to return to the gardens a year later and see how much it has evolved and improved from the last session. Even though it was only a few hours of our time, there was visual progress which everybody seemed delighted with.”

The day was also a great opportunity for colleagues from across the business to spend time together outside of work and support the local community at the same time.

IT Support Technician, James Claxton, described it as:

“A really enjoyable afternoon, great to meet colleagues from across the business and support the local community at the same time.”

A huge thank you to Trust Links - Community Mental Health for welcoming us back, we’re proud to support such a worthwhile charity and already looking forward to rolling our sleeves up again soon 🌿

Huge congratulations to our Finance Team Leader, Callum Davies, for completing the London Marathon last month! 🏃‍♂️

For a self-confessed “non-runner”, finishing 26.2 miles in an incredible six hours is an amazing achievement, even if at one point he was famously overtaken by someone dressed as a T-Rex 🦖

Even more impressively, Callum ran on behalf of NSPCC and raised over £2,500 for the charity along the way.

From all of Team Simarco, especially the Accounts and Admin Team, we’re incredibly proud of you, Callum Davies. Proof that determination, resilience, and ignoring being beaten by a dinosaur can get you to the finish line! 😉

👩🏻‍💻In the Spotlight: Celebrating National Receptionist Day

Today, we’re shining a well-deserved spotlight on one of the friendly faces who keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes at Simarco International Ltd - Sheila Rimes!

With her one-year anniversary on May 12th, it’s the perfect time to celebrate her journey, her impact, and the energy she brings to reception every single day.

Originally from Brazil, she made the move to England in 2022, and what a journey it’s been! A qualified Veterinarian by trade, she chose to step away from clinical practice and carve a new path focused on balance and wellbeing. From working front-of-house in social security and law offices, to catering, to running her own pet shop her career has been nothing short of adventurous!

Now at Simarco International Ltd, she’s the first point of contact for the business, ensuring every call is handled professionally and directed to the right place so the wider team can stay focused. But her role goes far beyond the front desk. From managing stock and supplies to organising meetings, handling mail, supporting bookings, and even helping plan charity events in Stoke, she truly does it all.

Her secret sauce? Patience, positivity, and serious multitasking skills 💪

☕ Her day starts simply: log in, water bottle filled, and (most importantly) a cup of tea in hand.
🤝 What she loves most? The people. Whether it’s colleagues or visitors, she enjoys the daily interactions and a good laugh along the way.
🥜 Best work snack? A classic fruit and nut mix.

One of the most valuable lessons she’s picked up along the way has been navigating challenging conversations with empathy and professionalism, a skill that speaks volumes about her character and dedication.

👏 On National Receptionist Day, we celebrate not just the role, but the person behind it, keeping things organised, welcoming, and running seamlessly.

A fantastic day out for a great cause! ⛳️

Team Simarco had the pleasure of attending the recent charity golf event hosted by our nominated charity, Trust Links - Community Mental Health. Our team were warmly welcomed with tea and a bacon roll, along with some inspiring insight into the incredible work Trust Links - Community Mental Health is doing within the community. ☕ 🥓

☀️ Heading out into the sunshine for what turned into a very enjoyable (and competitive!) round of golf. While we didn’t quite make it to the top of the leaderboard this time, it was still a brilliant experience and a great way to support such an important charity.

A huge thank you again to Trust Links - Community Mental Health for hosting such a well-organised and meaningful event. Already looking forward to the next one 😊
