Another busy day tackling wasp nests 🐝

This was one of several nests treated today, and the customer actually had activity in the same area last year too.

If you start noticing wasps regularly entering and leaving the same gap, vent or roof space, don’t leave it until the activity gets worse. The sooner it’s treated, the easier it usually is to get under control.

Professional wasp nest treatments available across the local area.

Pest control isn’t always about killing or exterminating something. A big part of our job is education, prevention and knowing when wildlife needs to be protected and left alone.

Sometimes good advice really is the best form of pest control.

This customer had a badger causing quite a bit of havoc around the garden and fencing.

Badgers are protected in the UK, with very strict rules around what can and can’t be done, particularly when it comes to disturbing or blocking an active badger sett.

We carried out a full inspection of the affected area and found no visible badger sett, so we were able to advise the customer on suitable preventative measures going forward.

Our advice was to install strong metal mesh fencing, dug securely into the ground around the affected garden area, to help prevent the badger from digging underneath and gaining access again.

Fingers crossed the little demolition expert gets the message !!!!

EDUCATION

Not every bee problem needs treating

We were called out to these mining bees, which had created loads of small individual burrows across the lawn.

Mining bees are solitary bees, so unlike wasps or honey bees, they don’t all live together in one big nest. Each female makes her own little tunnel in the ground, which is why you can sometimes see dozens of holes spread across one area.

They can look pretty intimidating when there are lots flying around, but they’re generally very placid and rarely sting unless heavily provoked.

In this case, treatment wasn’t recommended. Trying to treat every individual burrow would be extremely difficult, with no guarantee it would solve the problem.

Sometimes pest control is also about knowing when not to use chemicals.

Education is a big part of what we do. Bees are important pollinators, so where they aren’t creating a genuine risk, allowing nature to do its thing is often the better option.

We’ve advised the customer on ways to make the ground less attractive to them going forward while keeping the area safe.

Another rodent job completed

Rodents eradicated internally and externally, followed by a full inspection to find where they’d been gaining access.

Entry points were identified and the customer has been advised on the correct proofing work needed to help prevent any future visitors.

And that lovely pile in the photo? That’s nesting material the rats had dragged in themselves. Clearly fancied a bit of interior decorating while they were there 😂

Another job sorted by PestXperts 👊

Think a bird nest is just a neat little cup? Think again!
Jackdaws are absolute master builders when it comes to loft voids and chimneys. Over time, they drop thousands of twigs, sticks, moss, and pinecones to build massive, mounded foundations—often accumulating into huge piles like this over multiple seasons.

Today we successfully removed disinfected all nesting material in a loft space which has been built up over a long period of time.

When dealing with mice, we don’t simply put a few bait points down and leave.

Mice can feed and travel randomly throughout a property, including lofts, underfloor areas, wall voids and hidden spaces.

That’s why we spread bait points strategically across areas of activity and pay close attention to the small details that can easily be missed.

🔎 Thorough inspection. Strategic treatment. Attention to detail.

That’s how we tackle mouse infestations at PestXperts. 🐭
