🚐 COULD YOU DRIVE THE DIFFERENCE? ❤️

Caithness Rural Transport is looking for new volunteers to join our fantastic team!

Every day, our wheelchair-accessible vehicles help people across Caithness get to hospital and medical appointments, go shopping, visit friends and family, attend social activities and simply get out and about.

For many of our passengers, our service isn’t just transport - it’s independence, connection and the ability to keep doing the things that matter to them.

And behind so many of those journeys is one very important person…

A VOLUNTEER DRIVER. 🚐❤️

We’re looking for people of all ages who could spare some time to help others in their community.

You don’t need to be retired. You don’t need to volunteer every week. You don’t even need to have loads of spare time.

Maybe you could help one morning a week.
Maybe one afternoon a fortnight.
Maybe occasionally when you’re free.
Maybe you could help cover holidays or when other volunteers are unavailable.

Every journey makes a difference.

We are absolutely delighted to share that we have received a very generous £20,000 donation from Iron Mountain – NDAAL Social Value Fund! 🎉

Together with match funding, this incredible support has enabled us to purchase a new WAV (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle), which is now on its way and due to be delivered next week! 🚐💙

This will make a huge difference to the people we support and help us continue providing accessible transport where it is needed most.

We’ll be sharing more information about our new WAV very soon, but for now, a massive thank you to Iron Mountain – NDAAL Social Value Fund for your incredibly kind and generous donation. We are so grateful for your support! 🙏💙

3 Bridge Street

To get access to our office you need to make your way along the side of the building (between the Town Hall and the lovely garden with flowers).

You'll reach glass doors on your left - where you'll have to give us a ring and we will come let you in.

If you don't have a mobile phone you could give the 2nd window in from the street a wee knock and we will come out :)

July Figures 🚐

July was a busy month with over 1,000 journeys completed by our amazing team — and without them, it simply wouldn’t be possible.

A very grateful 121 hours were given by our amazing volunteers, helping to make sure everyone could get out and about, attend appointments and get where they needed to be.

A massive thank you to each and every one of you for all your hard work, time and dedication. We really do appreciate everything you do for Caithness Rural Transport. 💙

📊 June in Numbers 📊

June has been another busy month for our team, alongside sending out all of our membership renewal letters.

Our figures are slightly lower than usual, which is to be expected with the college now closed for the summer. Even so, we’ve still been incredibly busy helping our members get where they need to be.

A huge thank you goes to our fantastic drivers. We truly couldn’t do it without you. 💙

As our service continues to grow, we’re always looking for more volunteer drivers to join our friendly team. If you have a little spare time and would like to make a real difference in your local community, we’d love to hear from you. Even a few hours can have a big impact on someone’s day.

🎉 One Year of Community Transport in Halkirk! 🎉

What a fantastic first year it has been providing our Halkirk community transport service! 🚍💙

Over the past 12 months, we’ve helped ensure our lovely passengers safely reach medical appointments, hairdressers, shopping trips, work and so much more. We’ve even transported a Donkey & Camel along the way! 🫏🐪

A huge part of the service is our wonderful driver, Jack, who has become incredibly popular with everyone who travels with him. He’s not only getting people from A to B, but also offering a friendly ear, a warm smile and great company along the journey.

We’re also delighted that our membership numbers have doubled since starting the Halkirk-based bus service — something we’re extremely proud of! Thank you to everyone who has supported and travelled with us so far.

Here’s to another year of helping our community stay connected, independent and supported. We can’t wait to welcome even more passengers aboard over the coming year! 🚍✨
