My name is Lyle Stantiford and I established Future Marine Surveys Ltd in March 2020 after a lifelong passion for boats and spending my whole working career so far on the water led me to undertaking a Diploma in Marine Surveying. After an extensive course with Lloyd's maritime academy I felt I was ready to take the first steps into marine Surveying. I have a huge passion for boats and to this day

work on the water running my own successful charter business as well as the surveying. Over the years I have been involved in many different builds of boats from bare hull to finished article and a number of major refits from new engine and stern gear installation to complete refit of all major internal components of a vessel, new decks and finishing. I am an active volunteer with the RNLI and have been for 14 years so have a very high regard for safety. As a company we hold full professional indemnity and public liability insurances and i personally hold both MCA master 200/OOW 500GRT and commercially endorsed yachtmaster offshore as well as Diploma in Marine Surveying. You can expect a professional and honest approach to all surveys with all surveys reports electronically distributed to you within three working days of survey completion.

Insurance surveys completed on rowing vessels to beautiful sailing vessels. Remember once your vessel is 20 years old it is common practice for your insurer to request an insurance survey every five years. This isn't dead money, you get a professional and independent set of eyes look thoroughly over your vessel and can genuinely help your insurance premium costs.

A reminder that we are happy to travel if you aren't local to Dorset or if you spot a potential new vessel in other parts. We recently ventured to Essex to undertake a pre purchase survey on an Arvor 215.

One of the more interesting surveys was an ultrasonic thickness survey on a 17m steel workboat. The hull and main structures were assessed with an ultrasonic thickness meter. For her age and hard working life the vessel was found to be in good condition.

A recent condition survey was carried out on this Fairy Huntress from 1964.

The vessel was found to have undergone a number of alterations over the years which had all been completed to a professional standard.

A few minor defects were found in the hot moulded, veneered plywood hull. These were removed and succesfully repaired.
