From asbestos testing access to a platform covering the swimming pool.

At Stockport Grammar School, our first modular pontoon allowed specialist contractors to inspect and test materials above the pool. After asbestos was confirmed, we expanded the system to create a broad, stable working deck for the licensed removal team.

FPS Pontoon Hire supplied the access platform; the asbestos work was completed by appointed specialists.

High-level access above an indoor swimming pool.

FPS Pontoon Hire installed a modular floating work platform supporting a tall scaffold tower so specialist contractors could fit air-circulation fans and cabling approximately eight metres above the pool.

The fans were installed to redistribute warm air that collects at roof level, while our temporary access system enabled the one-night project to be completed without draining the pool.

Working access beneath bridges

Where the bank or bridge deck cannot provide practical access, a modular pontoon can position inspection teams and equipment close to soffits, beams, piers and abutments.

The layout is planned around bridge geometry, water conditions, working loads and the required inspection area.

Restricted access often starts before the water.

Narrow towpaths, steep banks, sensitive ground, low bridges, tunnels, remote launch points and limited crane access can all shape the installation plan.

FPS can plan around hand-carried components, alternative launch points, ground protection, lifting equipment, towing, workboat positioning and project-specific ramps.

Our floating pontoons are currently supporting two MEWPs at Beaufort Place in Cambridge, providing practical waterside access for façade works beside the River Cam.

The modular platforms offer a stable working area where conventional scaffolding or land-based access would be difficult.
