𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 @𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞

We welcomed London Waterbus Company again this week and the new edition to their fleet of trip boats.

Elizabeth will be in with us for a good while to bring her up to scratch for life on the canal out of Camden.

Milton was with us too for MCA and a little blacking. Annual maintenance is essential to keep them ship shape.

The greys were in too big and small.

A busy week incoming for us.

Slots still available towards end of November.

Lock 86 closure continues so remember to book passage if you are on a widebeam.

Last blast of the year it’s a late one squeezed in before the weather turns.

Normally April-September so taking bookings for next year now.

Nice to have Perseus back from London Waterbus Company inLondon Waterbus CompanyCA inspection.

And the most excited customer received her brand new wide beam.

Please be advised that essential dredging works will be taking place between Lock 61 Winkwell Bottom Lock and Lock 67 Apsley Bottom Lock along with Winkwell winding hole from Monday 12th October to Friday 20th November 2026.

The navigation is remaining open to all boats. Please be cautious when passing in this area which may result in delays of up to 30 minutes whilst these essential maintenance works are taking place.

Last Week
A little more activity and a visiting crane.
A boat that was an awkward one to load and a stranded tug.

Boat yard life 😊

Blue skies do help when things are not going quite to plan though.

There are some busy weeks coming up so if you’re looking to come in November is a better bet.

We have winter offers coming in November-February and long term hardstanding available if you contact us to discuss requirements.

A reminder that the closure at lock 86 Widewater, affects wide beam passage and must be pre booked Tuesday or Thursdays 10-2pm

Update 30 September 2026, 11:27am

Please be advised that widewater Lock will be made safe tomorrow, 1st of October.

This will render the bottom offside gate inoperable to members of the public whilst a repair is planned.

The lock will open to narrow beams by Friday, 2nd of October.

The lock will remain open to narrow beams in the meantime with bookable passage for wide beams on Tuesdays and Thursdays (Starting from the 6th of October).

The times window during these days will be between 10:00 and 14:00.

This notice will be updated once a plan for works has been created by the engineers.

We have had to implement an immediate navigation closure at this lock due to a balance beam that is at risk of failure, making the lock unsafe to operate.

The lock will remain closed until further notice while we carry out the necessary safety measures. Once the structure has been made safe, we will look to introduce assisted passages until a permanent repair can be completed.

For your safety, please do not use the balance beams to cross the bottom lock gates.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

Further updates will be provided on this notice on Wednesday 30th September.

The "Roving Canal Traders Association Cassiobury Park Halloween Floating Market" will be taking place on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th October 2026 on the Grand Union Canal. The event will be running from 10:00am to 4:00pm each day.

This will take place from Lock 76, Cassiobury Park to Lock 77, Ironbridge Lock.

The towpath and navigation will remain open, but we kindly ask you to stay alert and proceed with care while passing through the area.

The visitor moorings between these points will be suspended for the event from Wednesday 21st October 2026 at 9:00am until Monday 26th October 2026 at 10:00am. The moorings will be signposted.

We are as accommodating as we can be when things go askew and yes stress balls are available as part of our merch 😁
