🦠Equine Influenza update for all clinics, competitions and visitors here at Bogenraith Equestrian

Due to the current rise in cases of Equine Influenza, in order to continue to prioritise the safety and welfare of all horses and ponies in and visiting our centre, we will be implementing the following protocols with immediate effect:

- Passport checks will be mandatory before any horses or ponies are unloaded from their transport when attending any event, clinic or arena hire to ensure vaccinations are up to date. Please note it is a legal requirement for horses to be travelled with their passports. If passports cannot be provided, the horse will be asked to leave the ground immediately.

- Horses vaccinated within the last 7 days are NOT permitted to compete. Horses must not attend any event venue within 7 days of vaccination.

- Please be vigilant when parking lorries/ trailers and ensure you leave sufficient space between neighbouring vehicles.

- For arena hires, it is now mandatory to check in and have your passport checked before unloading. Please phone this number upon arrival: 07940550224

- Please do not allow horses/ ponies to make contact with any other horses/ ponies within the centre.

- Please avoid contact with other horses/ ponies on site (petting or feeding another horse that is not your own)

- We strongly advise riders/ owners to move to a 6- monthly vaccination programme for added protection.

- Please use appropriate disinfectant measures where possible. We will continue to uphold our current bio security protocols with the support of our long-term partner Equine Bio Genie.

Thank you for your understanding ☺️

Maintain a regular, strict biosecurity protocol throughout the year!

In addition to good hygiene and disease prevention methods, vaccination remains important to help decrease the risk of flu.

Did you know that doing 6 monthly boosters provide a more effective protection - this has been shown in more recent studies, your horse is more likely to show clinical disease if vaccination is after 6 months
