Sadly, due to a shortage of two safety critical volunteers required to operate our railway beyond Birchden Junction, we are unable to operate to Eridge today.

Trains are instead operating our Green timetable to Groombridge only.

🟦 Thank you to Sonic Rail Services! 🟦

The Spa Valley Railway wishes to extend an enormous and heartfelt thank you to Stewart Robinson, the Managing Director of Sonic Rail Services.

Sonic Rail Services have very kindly gifted all the recent track work, materials and labour costs for the track that they replaced at Broom Lane Bridge to the Spa Valley Railway. The machines, track, and material costs total approximately £60,000; this enormous saving and generosity cannot be underestimated, and we are truely taken aback by his and Alex Robinson's kindness.

This gift also extends to the Volker Rail tamper, which Stewart arranged through SRS. The cost savings for this and the work it did are worth thousands of pounds, slotting into the tampers' extremely busy mainline schedule.

Stewart is a preservationist through and through, always available on the phone and a person to call upon for anything infrastructure or railway-related.

We are sure our followers will join us in passing an enormous thank you to Sonic Rail Services, and long may our relationship with them continue.

Thank you Stewart. We are truly grateful!

Please, please, please can you stop hitting our new Broom Lane Bridge.

The road clearance is 9’ 6” heigh or 2.9m. If you are taller than this you are not going to fit and you are hitting the bridge attempting to fit under it.

Before any comments are made regarding bridge strike protection beams, we investigated this as part of the project, we explored all options with qualified civil engineers and it would have added a further £100,000 to the already £500,000 it cost to replace Broom Lane.

Please just stop hitting the bridge. The bridge might be a new one but there has been a bridge of this same, correctly measured and signposted height, across Broom Lane for over 100 years.
