Mechanical Marine Engineer
Location: Breakwater Marine, Brixham, Devon
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
40 Hrs per week
30 days holiday includes bank holidays
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Marine Engineer to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out the installation, servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis and engine rebuilds on marine engines.
The role is primarily based in Brixham but will require travel throughout England , Wales, Scotland and Ireland, supporting vessel breakdowns, and specialist installations.
Key Responsibilities
• Diagnose, service, repair, and overhaul marine diesel engines and associated mechanical systems.
• Install and commission marine propulsion systems, gearboxes, shafting, steering systems, and auxiliary equipment.
Essential Experience
• Minimum 5 years' experience in marine mechanical engineering.
• Proven experience working with marine diesel engines (such as FPT , Volvo Penta, Yanmar, Cummins, Caterpillar, MAN, Scania).
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to travel and work away from home when required.
• Experience with commercial fishing vessels, workboats, passenger vessels, or leisure craft.
• Experience with engine alignments and vessel commissioning.
Education & Qualifications
Applicants should possess one or more of the following:
• Level 3 Diploma or NVQ Level 3 in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• City & Guilds qualification in Mechanical or Marine Engineering.
