🚛 RECOVERY STORY – PORSCHE PANAMERA 🚛
Today I received a call from a customer stranded in Swaffham with a broken down Porsche Panamera.
I gave him the price straight away, but I also told him honestly that I would need around 1 hour to reach him and advised him to try finding someone closer if possible.
About an hour later, he called me back and said another recovery company had attended, but refused to load the vehicle because it was “too low” and being a Porsche, they were worried about damaging it.
From the moment he confirmed the booking, I arrived in around 40 minutes. ✅
Using the correct loading angles, extra care and professional equipment, the vehicle was safely recovered and delivered to King’s Lynn without any issues. 🚛💨
Not every recovery is just about towing a car.

⚠️ REAL EXPERIENCE FROM TODAY – PLEASE READ ⚠️

Today I was booked to collect a vehicle almost 75 miles away. Nearly 2 hours driving, fuel, time and work booked in advance. I trusted the customer and didn’t take a deposit.

When I arrived, something immediately felt wrong.

The buyer had sent the seller a screenshot as “proof of payment” and convinced her to transfer the V5 into his name BEFORE the money had actually arrived in her bank account. The vehicle was worth around £2400, but only a small deposit had supposedly been sent.

The buyer was already claiming:
❌ “The car is legally mine now”
❌ Threatening police involvement
❌ Pressuring the seller

But the seller still had NO money in her account.

At that moment I had two choices:
👉 Protect my own payment and load the car
OR
👉 Stop the recovery and protect someone vulnerable from potentially losing their vehicle.

I chose to STOP the job. 💚

Even knowing there was a real risk I could lose my own money for the transport, I refused to take part in something that did not feel honest or legal.

No recovery job is worth helping a possible fraud happen.

🙏 Thankfully the situation was resolved correctly in the end, but it could have gone very badly for the seller.

PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY:
🚨 Screenshots are NOT proof of payment
🚨 A V5/logbook is NOT proof of legal ownership if full payment has not cleared
🚨 Never release a vehicle until YOU physically see the money in your account
🚨 Never let pressure or threats rush your decision

And to other recovery companies:
If something feels wrong when you arrive at a collection, STOP and check everything properly. Sometimes protecting people matters more than one transport payment.

From now on, for long-distance third-party collections, deposits will be required in advance. Business teaches lessons every day.
