We have many events running throughout the season, as well as our famous Polar Express Train Ride in November and December. Telford Steam Railway is a heritage steam railway in Telford, Shropshire, UK. We are a small and dedicated group working towards our vision of returning a heritage railway to the world heritage site of Ironbridge Gorge. We currently run passenger trains over around a mile of

track, between three stations, using steam and diesel locomotives. We hold many special events throughout the season (www.telfordsteamrailway.co.uk/events), and have a model railway exhibition and Furnaces tearoom open for you to enjoy. The Phoenix Miniature Railway offers rides at our Spring Village Station for a small additional charge. It is assumed that any photos shared on our page can be used for promotional material, if this is not the case please let us know.

We've got TWO steam engines out this Sunday at Telford Steam Railway !

Avonside No. 1919 'Cranford' will be pulling services on the standard gauge line, transporting you between our three historic stations.

Our unqiue Steam Tram 'Thomas Telford' will be operating the narrow gauge line around Horsehay Pool.

Your ticket lets you ride ALL DAY on both our railways and also includes :

- Top Link Model Railway Exhibition
- Railwayana Museum
- O Gauge outdoor railway

Our next batch of photos for come from Martyn Morgan, who visited the railway in 2008 - already 18 years ago!!! We are grateful to Martyn for allowing us to share his photos.

This may be a picture of Thomas Hill No. 177C Joanna, which was built in 1950 as a steam loco and converted to a diesel in 1967 ( was converting steam to diesel a regular occurance?). It was operational at the railway, but the cab windows seem boarded up in this picture, so maybe it was out of action. I never saw this loco at the railway, so it may have left soon after this photo was taken. Does it still exist? It's pictured in Spring Village yard behind "Tom".

Book Now for our Autumnal Pottery Painting Train Ride Experience !

Climb onboard our heritage steam train and paint a ceramic pumpkin with your family and friends, while travelling between our three historic stations.

Each guest will have the opportunity to paint one Ceramic Pumpkin, and also receive a complimentary drink onboard. Your ticket also lets you ride ALL DAY at the railway to experience all our attractions, such as our unique Steam Tram or the Model Railway Exhibition.

Your service will be pulled by our steam loco 'Cranford' with the pottery painting lasting approximately 1 hour, beginning at Spring Village Station at 10:50am.

Enjoy crispy fish and golden chips brought to your table aboard our comfy MK2 carriages as we trundle along our charming railway.

Well that's a wrap on a great weekend attending the annual Gauge O Guild "Guildex" event at the Staffordshire Showground. A big thank you to the hosts for the invite and bigger a thank you to all the visitors, traders and exhibitors that came to our stand to say hi, catch up on our latest developments and those who made a purchase as well. What to expect on our Pottery Painting Train Ride Experience - Sunday 13th September !

Join us for the opportunity to get crafty and paint your own Ceramic Pumpkin which will be taken away and glazed, being returned before Halloween!

The train will depart at 11am, where you will join us to paint your own Ceramic Pumpkin behind our heritage steam locomotive. Please arrive at the railway by 10:50am.

Each paying guest will have the opportunity to paint 1 Ceramic Pumpkin, which will be taken away, glazed and fired before being returned to you at a later date. Each paying guest will also receive a complimentary drink onboard, whether that be a cheeky Bucks-Fizz, or a nice warm cuppa.

Your experience should last approximately 1 hour, but there's more ... you're ticket lets your RIDE ALL DAY to experience all our attractions. Travel all day on our standard gauge railway, experience our unique steam tram 'Thomas Telford' and marvel at the model railway exhibition. A full day of railway heritage to explore.

Your finished items will either be available to collect from MERAKI in Much Wenlock or from Spring Village Station at an arranged date.

This Sunday 6th September, BR Class 37 No. 37263 will be pulling services alongside Steam Tram 'Thomas Telford' !

Trains run from 11:00 am to 15:30 pm, with our narrow gauge Steam Tram 'Thomas Telford' also in operation. Pay Once and Ride All Day, to experience all the attractions we have to offer.

Tickets : £10 Adults, £7 Children & £28 Family

After 15:00, you can purchase our Saver ticket to travel on the last train of the day for just £2.50 Adults, £2,00 Children or £7.00 Family !

Your FINAL chance to drive Avonside No. 1919 'Cranford' this year at Telford Steam Railway !

This incredible experience puts you on the footplate of a working steam locomotive, which you'll drive along the Telford Steam Railway and tackle the famous 1 in 36 climb out of Horsehay & Dawley Station. It's an unforgettable opportunity for any railway enthusiast!

Saturday 12th September is currently the final planned Driver Experience course that 'Cranford' is scheduled to take part in at Telford Steam Railway, so don't miss out.
