So, today Teignbridge District Council approved Teignmouth Town Council’s retrospective plans for the monstrous toilet block built on the Lower Point Carpark ~ passed earlier than the published date of the 6th of February. I suspect as a district councillor made enquiries on Friday into calling the application to committee.
A few questions I’ll be asking TDC when I submit an official complaint:
🔺Why was there no consultation with a conservative officer when the site is in a conservation area and a stone’s throw from the Grade II listed lifeboat station
🔺Why did the chair of the planning committee refuse to call the application to committee even though there were 58 objections from members of the public
🔺How much will TDC being charging TTC for the land the toilets are built on, I would imagine this will be calculated on the loss of revenue from the lost parking spaces.

Something smells a bit stinky and I’m not talking about the toilets 🚽

The decision from Teignbridge Planning Department has been put back until 6th of February ~ to allow Teignmouth Town Council to submit missing documents. I’ve lobbied to get this application called to the Planning Committee so that the public can have their say but so far I’ve been unsuccessful. As the toilets are being constructed on Teignbridge land I suspect Teignbridge will be charging Teignmouth Town Council some kind of ground rent and this could be the reason they don’t want it called to committee. Any district councillor can call an application to committee so feel free to lobby away🚽🚾‼️

🚻🅿️‼️It’s come to light today that Teignmouth Town Council have also started the construction of another ugly toilet block on Quay Road carpark and, as with the Lower Point, these works are underway without current planning permission in place as it has lapsed.‼️🅿️🚻

Not only is it incredibly arrogant of the Town Council to think they are above planning procedures, but again, they had other options than to build on another carpark resulting in the loss of yet more valuable parking.

🧻 The Brunswick Street toilets have stood empty and decaying for years - why are they not upgrading the existing building which is central and on the level?🚽
