Heading home from Reading Festival? 🎪

Here are some top tips for your return journey!

• No trolleys or sack trucks are allowed on board
• Buy your ticket in advance and avoid ticket-machine queues
• Charge your phone if you're travelling with an e-ticket
• Bring your Railcard if you have one
• Check your journey before setting off, especially if you're travelling further afield
• Allow extra time on Monday, when a queuing system will be in place as the station is expected to be very busy

✅ Book in advance and reserve a seat at www.GWR.com

✅ Check your journey before you travel

✅ Bring your Railcard if you have one to avoid needing to buy another ticket

✅ Child tickets are for those aged 5–15 only. Proof of age may be requested.

✅ Make sure your phone is fully charged so you can show your e-ticket

✅ Allow extra time on Monday. A queuing system will be in place at Reading

❌ Strictly no trolleys or sack trucks. Space on board is limited. Only bring what you can carry

❌ Make sure your ticket covers your full journey. Revenue Protection teams will be on site

Castle Cary station has been transformed by an £835,000 restoration this week, celebrating the history of the Great Western Railway and its early 20th-century heritage.

The station building was officially opened by Department for Transport Operator Limited (DFTO) Chair, Sir Andrew Haines OBE on Monday.

Funded by the Department for Transport and The Railway Heritage Trust, the project has restored many of the station’s original features, while making it more accessible and welcoming for customers.
