Ride Leader Lew participates in the Rotary Cyclothon
Hi, a final update from me on my ride in the Swindon North and Thamesdown Rotary cyclothon at Morden Sports Hub today to raise funds to help the limitless project buy a second wheel chair bike so that folk don’t have to wait too long to get a ride during our limitless sessions.
Obviously having had Hip replacement on Tueasday morning there was no way I would be able to ride a normal bike, but as I am part of the Limitless project I had access to other options. I opted for a Handtrike and prior to my surgery I discussed this proposition with my surgeon and he agreed it would be ok so long as I kept my back supported

Some friends were concerned that I might get knocked by others but as it turned out there were very few participants at the time I arrived. I was able to do approximately 1 and half long laps of .72miles although one of the climbs was tough. I then had a tea break before going back and doing another two short laps (0.45 miles).
I am glad to say that we have almost reached our target of £250 donated and I am really grateful to those who have donated already and I really would appreciate any further donations as the extra money raised will help buy spares and keep the whole fleet of disabled bikes going. Today saw the Swindon Lets Ride Group return to hosting the more traditional road based group rides, where 25 riders cycled a total of 26 miles to sample the delicious refreshments at the The Wild Olive at Butts Farm cafe. It was great to welcome a total of 6 new riders to the group👍.
Departing from the Moredon Sporting Hub, the group made their way out to the Cotswold Water Parks via the 'closed road' and the villages of Chelworth and Ashton Keynes, before cycling through the picturesque village of South Cerney to arrive at one of our favorite cafes, The Wild Olive at Butts Farm. After some much needed refuelling, the group returned to Swindon via the villages of Latton and Cricklade.

Today saw a first for the Swindon Lets Ride Group, where 8 riders set off on a glorious gravel / MTB ride to Savernake Forest near Marlborough.
Departing from Coate Water, Swindon, the group enjoyed the fantastic scenic views from the old railway track as they made their way across the Marlborough Downs. On reaching Marlborough, the challenge of Forest Hill was met and conquered by everyone, leading us into the superb cycling network of Savernake Forest. After completing a circuit within the forest, cycling a variety of trails, the group returned to Swindon before the heat of the day made the experience unpleasant.
Thank you to all the riders for making to so enjoyable, something we will definitely looking to expand on.
