Great to spend the day with students at the Reading Football Community Trust today.

We delivered a couple of sessions focused on helping young people explore careers in the railway industry, including an event-planning challenge and a personality skills assessment.
It was brilliant to see so much creativity, teamwork, and engagement throughout the day.

Hopefully, we helped open a few eyes to the variety of opportunities available across the rail sector.

We’ve had the pleasure of supporting the Bristol City Robins Foundation at a couple of fantastic events recently. 🚆⚽

Our first session saw us deliver four workshops to 65 students, exploring the wide range of career opportunities available within GWR. Students also took part in an interactive event-planning challenge, putting their creativity and teamwork to the test while considering budgets, financial management, and how GWR’s values can help shape successful decision-making. 🚆💡📊

Our second event focused on interview skills and preparation, helping young people build confidence, develop their interview techniques, and prepare for future employment opportunities.
It’s been great to work alongside the Bristol City Robins Foundation and support young people as they develop the skills and knowledge needed for their future careers.

Great to be at Weston College today, sharing insights into the wide range of careers at GWR, highlighting our apprenticeship opportunities, and offering practical tips for strong applications.

We had the opportunity to speak with 60 Travel and Tourism students an engaged and motivated group with real enthusiasm for future careers at GWR. It’s always encouraging to meet such driven learners.

We were delighted to celebrate yesterday with our apprentices from across the network who were recognised for successfully completing their apprenticeships 🎉

It was fantastic to see so many learners receive their awards and celebrate the hard work, dedication and commitment they’ve shown throughout their programmes.

A huge thank you as well to our partners at Exeter College Apprenticeships and DofE, who play such an important role in supporting our teams and helping deliver our schemes.

🚨 Life Saving Week at GWR 🚨

It’s been a busy and inspiring week for our apprentices!

They’ve taken part in:

🏊 Lifeguarding training
⛑ First Aid certification

On top of that, the team has also represented us at three careers events and two Railway Safety events, a fantastic effort all round.

At Great Western Railway, we’re about more than trains and track. We’re committed to developing skills that protect, support and make a real difference.
