We are celebrating our 40th year anniversary in 2026, so there is no better time to join us and help us celebrate!

Swanley New Barn Railway is run by a dedicated team of volunteers and we would love more help to run and maintain our railway.

Full training is given by our experienced volunteer's so no need for any previous experience.

From our juniors members (Age 13+) to our adult members, we can have a chat with anyone thats interested!

For our 40th anniversary Gala in just over a month on the 18th and 19th July. We are pleased to welcome more than 40 charity and craft stalls. They will be offering games, handmade creations including knitted, 3 d printed , turned wood, jewellery and even baked cakes. There will be face painting and many interesting things to do and buy. Whilst some stalls can accept payment by card others are only able to accept cash. We and they are looking forward to seeing you.

Our charity stalls will include Demelza house, Cats protection,WI and several local guides and scout groups.

We are delighted to say that 6th and 7th June will see Taw running at our railway thanks to our friends at Eastleigh Lakeside Railway. Taw will be staying with us for a little while so she can be one of the stars at our 40th Anniversary gala in July. Taw has visited before and we are delighted to see her come back for our 40th year. Taw is a very similar locomotive to our resident Yeo and we hope to have them both running at our 40th gala.

We are now open weekends only until the 18th July. 18th July is also day 1 of our 40th Anniversary gala. Our steam engines have had a lovely day today and are now going to bed ready for there next turn.

Sir Goss will be on holiday next weekend at Malden District Society of model engineers to celebrate there 90th birthday.

A huge thank you to everyone who came to our “home fleet gala” we hoped you all enjoyed it as much as we did.

It’s not long to go until our main event of our 40th birthday year on the 18th and 19th July.

Day 2 of our gala today and sadly Mynyddwr is unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances, but we are delighted to say Skipper is joining the party and will be running some freight trains.

Yesterday 3 of our steam engines did a triple header on the last train. Normal fares apply today and last train is at 5pm.

The first day of the Home Fleet Gala is underway, with 4 coach sets and a freight service going round the line!

It's the first gala for our 40th year, so we have had some special headboards made up for the front of some of our loco's. Many thanks to our member's who created them!
