Did you know a piece of paper can stop a container?

Not the vessel.
Not the port.
Not the haulier.

A piece of paper.

In international freight, one incorrect document can be enough to delay your shipment, create extra costs, or stop goods moving altogether.

Wrong commodity code.
Missing invoice detail.
Incorrect Incoterms.
Documents that don’t match.

It’s often the small admin details that cause the biggest problems.

At SSO International Forwarding, we support importers and exporters with customs clearance, declarations and freight forwarding, helping make sure shipments are prepared properly before they move.

Because when your goods are ready to go, your paperwork needs to be too.

Today, we mark VE Day.

A moment to remember the courage, sacrifice and resilience of those who served, those who supported from home, and those who helped shape the freedoms we have today.

At SSO, we’re taking a moment to reflect and remember.

Thank you to all who served.

As the first Freeport customs site operator in the North West, operating within the Liverpool City Region Freeport, SSO International Forwarding helps businesses turn Freeport status into a practical customs and supply chain advantage.

For importers, exporters and manufacturers, the right customs setup can make a real difference to cash flow, duty exposure and operational control.

Freeport authorisations can support businesses by helping to:

✅ Suspend duty and import VAT while goods are stored
✅ Process or manufacture goods before they enter free circulation
✅ Improve control over customs procedures
✅ Make better use of the Liverpool City Region Freeport
✅ Build more resilient supply chains

With continued disruption across global trade, businesses need more than transport.

They need structure, advice and customs expertise that helps remove barriers.

If your goods are moving through the North West, Freeport could be more than a location.

It could be an advantage.

With so much disruption in international trade, anything that removes barriers and saves money matters.

AEO Authorisation can help businesses move goods more smoothly, strengthen customs compliance and potentially reduce costs linked to delays, checks and inefficiency.

It is not just about ticking a box. It is about building a more resilient supply chain and putting your business in a stronger position when the market gets complicated.

For importers and exporters facing pressure from changing rules, border friction and global uncertainty, that can make a real difference.

If you are wondering whether AEO Authorisation is worth pursuing, SSO International Forwarding can help.

Happy New Tax Year.

Yesterday marked the start of the new UK tax year, and for importers and exporters, that is a good moment to look beyond the accounts and take a proper look at customs too.

Because when customs is not set up properly, the cost does not always show up straight away. It often hides in delays, disruption, admin time, avoidable charges and processes that are doing more harm than good.

Bringing in a customs consultant can help your business:

• review current customs processes
• improve compliance and reduce risk
• identify inefficiencies and avoidable costs
• explore duty reliefs and special procedures
• keep goods moving smoothly across borders

If international trade is part of your business, now is a smart time to ask whether your customs setup is ready for the year ahead.

New tax year. Fresh look at customs. Better decisions from the start.
