🛤️ Afternoon Teas & Driver Experiences The Foxfield Light Railway is one of the UK's earliest heritage railways.
(1)

🚂 One of Britain's oldest heritage industrial railways, open Sundays March-October & bank holidays and some Saturdays

🏅Award-winning days out & experiences for all. The line was built in the 1890's and unlike many lines which follow valleys, the Foxfield Railway maintains a 51⁄2 mile round journey which boldly crosses open moorland, hills and woodland. This results in spectacular sounds and sight

s from the locomotives as trains climb the steepest gradients to steam through Scenic North Staffordshire. The train currently terminates in the remote woodland halt of Dilhorne Park, at the top of Foxfield Bank, which offers unspoilt views across open moorlands where very little modern life can be seen. During special weekends demonstration coal trains on Foxfield bank recreate the colliery days of the railway and provide the spectacle of our small steam locomotives being worked very hard to climb the average 1 in 25 gradients for 3/4 of a mile.

There's no Foxfield Railway without our incredibly hard working volunteers. Most of us are crazy enough to be doing this around demanding day jobs, self-employment, young families, health challenges, and yet... our volunteers all turn up, put in more than a shift, and bring the magic to every visitor's experience.

We need all of our car park attendants, shop runners, food & drink servers, cooks & pot washers, cleaners, administrators, marketers, permanent way gang, coach & wagon restorers, engine owners, trustees, board of directors, museum curators, colliery gang, gardener, event organisers, finance clerks, carpenters, painters, electricians, workshop managers, signalers, firemen, crossing keepings, RO (Responsible Officer), and more. Doing more than is asked, and doing it unseen.

We see you, we thank you. We would not be here without you. And you wouldn't be reading this.

Considering being part of preserving our legacy? Become a member or volunteer to do something really fulfilling on-site or remote today: https://foxfieldrailway.digitickets.co.uk/category/61267
