Welcome to our first Workshop Wednesday focuing on the repair of a Sonar damaged during a team racing event earlier this year.
Starting with a heavily damaged starboard capping rail and a split hull-to-deck join, the project required a new mould to be created from a second Sonar before replacement parts could be produced and fitted.
These photographs show some of the journey from the initial damage, through mould creation and trial fitting, to the completed repair. Along the way, the hull-to-deck join was rebuilt and re-bonded before the newly moulded components were installed and finished.
Both boats have now returned to Queen Mary with no visible signs of repair and are ready for the new team racing season.

We're looking for a skilled, detail-focused developer to join our Wi******er Office.
You'll need experience working with Django Templates and Tailwind CSS, and a keen interest in producing clear, intuitive and engaging user experiences.
Your work will help shape the next generation of the kSail Events Platform, improving the experience for event organisers, volunteers and sailors alike. You'll also play a key role in keeping our user documentation and knowledge base clear, accurate and easy to follow.
You'll be joining a small, dedicated team supporting the sailing community. For the right person, this is an opportunity to make a genuine impact on a live platform used by major sailing events around the world.
If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
For more information or an informal chat, please contact Keith via your preferred communication method.

Yesterday Wayne and Keith welcomed a group from the University of Southampton Sailing Club to the kSail Workshop.
Seven sailors were introduced to fibreglass layup techniques and repair processes. While Wayne demonstrated the build process, moulding a small boat for the group to take away; each student was guided through the materials and equipment needed producing their own composite panel.
