📍 Based at Stanley Bus Station

Join our friendly Taxi Booking Office team!

We’re looking for a friendly, reliable and organised person to join our busy team at Stanley Bus Station.

⚠️ Please note: This is an office-based role and is not a home-working or remote position.

📞 About the Role

This is a varied and rewarding customer service role where no two days are the same.

Your duties will include:

* ☎️ Answering telephone calls and taking taxi bookings
* 🚕 Dispatching jobs to drivers using our computerised booking system
* 👋 Assisting customers who visit the office
* 🚌 Booking day trips and dealing with coach enquiries
* 📧 Responding to emails
* 🧹 Helping to keep the office clean, tidy and welcoming

⏰ Hours

* 16–20 hours per week
* Job share considered
* A mixture of evening and weekend shifts, including weekend evenings

This can be a fast-paced role, especially during busy periods, so you’ll need to enjoy staying busy, helping customers and working as part of a supportive team.

We’re looking for someone who is:

* ✅ Reliable and punctual
* 😊 Friendly, professional and calm under pressure
* 🗣️ Confident communicating with a wide range of people
* 💻 Comfortable working with computers — basic IT skills are essential
* 🤝 Able to work effectively in a busy office environment

Previous taxi industry experience — either as a driver or operator — would be an advantage, but is not essential.

We use the iCabbi booking and dispatch system, and full training will be provided.

🚨Do you know where your kids are?🚨

Officers are appealing to parents of children in the local area, after multiple incidents of arson and wildfires in the Stanley area this evening.

Police, and our colleagues at County Durham & Darlington Fire & Rescue Service, have attended multiple incidents this evening in the local area, of large fires taking over grassed areas and a suspected arson at a local business.

If your child is out in the area tonight, please contact them and ensure they are not committing any offences or putting the public, wildlife or even themselves, at risk!
