Last night Gilly and Millie joined ANZCRO, our preferred Australia and New Zealand partner, for a brilliant evening at Aston Marina, catching up with some of the people behind the experiences we recommend to our clients.

There was plenty to talk about, from overnight cruises in the spectacular Fiordland National Park and exploring New Zealand without a hire car, to Air New Zealand’s innovative new sleeping options.

Even after years of planning holidays to Australia and New Zealand, evenings like this remind us how much there is still to learn.

🚢 P&O Cruises Winter 2028/29: Book NOW for the Best Launch Prices!
P&O Cruises has released details of 220 new cruises, departing from October 2028 to March 2029, plus selected summer 2029 sailings. And we're now taking pre-registrations!

Why book through Your Us?

We have access to the same exclusive booking window as P&O Cruises, from 8.30am to 10am, before general sales open and fluid pricing begins, but we select your cabin!

These first 90 minutes really matter! Our Head of Concierge, Stephanie, booked her own cruise at 8.33am during a previous launch. By the time general sales opened, the price had almost doubled!

We'll have three members of our team dedicated to securing our clients' bookings. It's a frantic 90 minutes, but we know the drill!

What's on offer?
There's something for everyone, including:

Caribbean: 14-night fly-cruises aboard Arvia and Iona, with selected departures from Birmingham and Manchester.

Canary Islands: 7 and 14-night fly-cruises on Azura, including flights from Birmingham, Manchester and East Midlands.

No-fly cruising: Winter sunshine, European city breaks and Christmas and New Year sailings from Southampton.

THE HOLIDAY THAT WENT UP BY £1,200 WHILE THE CLIENT WAS THINKING ABOUT IT.

This happened recently, and it's a useful reminder of how holiday pricing works.

A client was considering a holiday for next April. By the time they were ready to commit, the price had increased by £600 per person. That's an additional £1,200 for exactly the same holiday.

This is Gilly’s take ‘after years of arranging family holidays, I genuinely struggle to remember a situation where one of our school-holiday clients has been disadvantaged by booking early’.

Of course, prices can go down as well as up. Nobody can guarantee the lowest price.

My recommendation: Do your planning before you start seriously shopping. Agree your dates, budget and priorities, then look at actual availability when you're ready to make a decision.

🦍🌿 Imagine stepping into the Ugandan rainforest and finding yourself face-to-face with a mountain gorilla.

For many wildlife lovers, trekking to see mountain gorillas is about far more than simply ticking an animal off a list. It’s the journey through the forest, the anticipation of the trek, and then that unforgettable moment when you finally spot a gorilla family moving through the vegetation.

A curious youngster playing nearby. A huge silverback keeping watch. A mother quietly caring for her baby.

There’s something incredibly humbling about sitting quietly in the forest and watching these remarkable animals simply being themselves with no performance, no enclosure and no guarantee of what you might encounter.

It’s an experience that can take effort to reach, but for those lucky enough to experience it, the memories can last a lifetime. 🌿❤️

COULD A FREE CHILD PLACE GET YOU A BETTER HOLIDAY, NOT JUST A CHEAPER ONE?

When people see Jet2holidays advertising Free Child Places, they naturally think about saving money.

But Millie looks at it slightly differently.

What if that saving meant you could afford the five-star all-inclusive resort you thought was outside your budget? Perhaps somewhere with better restaurants, fantastic swimming pools or a family suite with more space?

My recommendation: Don't automatically rule out the more luxurious hotels, particularly if you're travelling in August. Let me compare the total prices and see what's possible.

Free Child Places are limited and only available on selected holidays, and they're not automatically the best-value option. But they can make a real difference.

FIVE YEARS OF SHARING OUR TRAVEL STORIES IN THE VILLAGER!

We've been writing for our lovely local magazine, The Villager, for over five years now, sharing our travels, recommendations, advice and a little of what goes on behind the scenes at Your Holiday Concierge.

This year, we've expanded to a full page every month, along with our special four-page pull-out every January, just as everyone starts thinking about their holidays for the year ahead.

It's something we really enjoy doing, and it's lovely when clients tell us they've been following our articles or that something they've read has encouraged them to get in touch.

Our latest article, in the October edition, is particularly special because it introduces our new name, our growing team and explains a little more about what we do.

Many people know us for luxury cruises and complicated tailor-made adventures, but we're equally happy arranging your next package holiday with Jet2holidays or TUI. Different holidays, different budgets, but always the same personal service.

We're very proud to be part of the Brewood business community, and it's wonderful to have a local publication that gives independent businesses like ours a voice.

SUMMER 2028? SURELY THAT'S FAR TOO EARLY TO BOOK A HOLIDAY? ☀️

Not necessarily!

Jet2holidays has just launched its summer 2028 programme, and if you're tied to the school holidays, it's worth taking a look. This is what Millie says....

One of the biggest advantages of booking early isn't necessarily the price. It's the choice.

Family suites, swim-up rooms, interconnecting accommodation and convenient flight times can all become harder to find as availability reduces.

My recommendation: If you know you're travelling during the school holidays and have a particular hotel or room type in mind, start planning early. You don't have to book immediately, but it helps to know what's available.
