🚐 **THE END OF AN ERA… BERTHA HAS RETIRED!** 😭😂
Well folks, it’s official… Bertha has finally been pensioned off.
After working her socks off for the past few years, she’s clocked up more miles than I care to admit. Unfortunately, those miles have started to catch up with her. Things that used to make noises started making different noises, warning lights became more like Christmas decorations, and every journey was beginning to feel like an episode of "Will We Actually Get Home?”😂
To be fair to her, Bertha never wanted for anything. She was serviced, maintained, fuelled and generally treated like royalty. And despite her advancing years, she rarely let me down.
Although when she did decide to have a little breakdown, she certainly knew how to make an entrance. Usually somewhere busy. Usually in the rain. And usually when I was already late. 🤦♂️😂
But sadly, all good things must come to an end. The miles have taken their toll, and after many years of loyal service, Bertha and I have had to part ways.
She has now gone off for a well-earned retirement/rest, where hopefully she can spend her days relaxing, putting her feet up and complaining about her knees to anyone who will listen. ❤️😂
And as for me…
I’ve gone and got myself a newer, younger model! 😏🚐
She’s shinier, fresher, has considerably fewer miles on the clock and, most importantly, doesn’t currently make any noises that require me to turn the radio up. 😂
I’m hoping she’ll serve me just as well as Bertha did and put up with all the abuse, miles, tools, rubbish and questionable driving decisions that come with the job!
So here’s to Bertha — an absolute workhorse, a proper legend and, on occasion, a very expensive metal box with attitude.
Thanks for everything, old girl. You’ve earned your retirement. ❤️
Now… time to see what the new girl is made of! 😎🚐💨
P.S. I’m currently accepting suggestions for a name. Preferably something that doesn’t sound like it belongs on a breakdown recovery firm. 😂
