Our commercial cargoes range from timber, steel, oil, grain and aggregates and we are a popular destination for commercial fishing vessels. Our marinas are home to many local leisure users and our thriving commercial property portfolio has enabled over 150 small and medium sized businesses to join our Port community. As a Trust Port we operate at the heart of the community and our driving force is always to shape and maintain the Port for the benefit of all stakeholders. 🚧 Prince George Lock Maintenance Works

You may have noticed that work is currently taking place at Prince George Lock, which began on 1 October 2026 and is expected to continue for approximately 6 weeks.

The lock is closed to allow essential maintenance works to be carried out.

During this period, all vessels travelling to and from the Canal will be required to use Prince Philip Lock. As a result, movements may be delayed from time to time.

Ever wonder what the process is when a vessel enters the dry dock?

Dry docking doesn't simply begin when a vessel arrives. The process starts long before maintenance can take place, from positioning support blocks and filling the dry dock with water from the canal, to carefully manoeuvring the vessel into place. Once secured, the water is drained from the basin, allowing essential maintenance, repairs and inspections to be carried out.

When the work is complete, the vessel is refloated and ready to return to sea.

Following our acquisition of Southwick Beach in May 2026, including the beach huts, public toilets, the site occupied by Carats Cafe and the car park, we introduced new parking arrangements as part of bringing the site into Shoreham Port ownership.

Since then, we have listened to feedback from local residents, surfers, beach users and businesses, and we are introducing a number of changes at Southwick Beach:

✅ One-hour parking option
Visitors are able to pay for one hour's parking at Southwick Beach, providing greater flexibility for shorter visits.

✅ More payment choices
A new card payment machine will be installed alongside the existing phone and app payment options.

✅ Winter tariff
A winter tariff will apply from 1 November 2026 to 28 February 2027.

We will be assessing the benefits of these changes and will review them again in mid 2027.

As a Trust Port, our profits are reinvested back into the Port and its facilities for the benefit of all users. This contributes to ongoing improvements of the Port estate, including repairs to roads and potholes, maintenance of public facilities, and coastal protection works, to ensure the beach can continue to be enjoyed for generations to come.

Southwick Beach Revetment Closure planned from Monday 5th October 2026 for approximately 3 weeks.

Our biannual shingle replenishment works require transporting shingle from Shoreham Beach and moving it by road to the Eastern Breakwater at Southwick Beach.

Access along the revetment will therefore be closed during this time. Vehicle traffic will increase along Basin Road South during this period. Thank you for your patience while this work takes place.

This September, it was an honour to be part of SailLink ’s pilot crossings between Shoreham Port (Sussex) and Fécamp (Normandy).

It was an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. Passengers didn’t simply travel across the Channel. The journey itself became part of the adventure, following a route steeped in history.

All five crossings were completed 100% under sail, which is an incredible achievement! It’s been wonderful to see a pilot that has been talked about and planned for so long become a reality.

We also had the pleasure of meeting passengers ahead of each departure at our café, Port Kitchen. It was fantastic to meet everyone and hear their shared excitement before setting sail from the Port onboard Catamaran Mer Agitée , helmed by two-time Vendée Globe winner Michel Desjoyeaux.

A huge thank you to everyone who worked together to make this pilot possible and to all the passengers who believed in the crossing and joined us on this adventure.

We are excited to see where SailLink ’s journey goes next!

MAKING A DIFFERENCE! 👏

This past Tuesday, we joined forces with Shoreham Port and the Marine Conservation Society to carry out a thorough beach clean in Southwick, West Sussex.

32 volunteers gave their time to clean up the coastline, as they helped collect 967 individual pieces of litter, weighing just over 10kg. 🚮

Sadly, more than 70% of the rubbish collected was plastic waste, which continues to pollute our beaches and oceans.

When plastics enter the food chain and accumulate in the stomachs of marine animals, it causes them to starve to death, which is why the work of the Marine Conservation Society is so important and why we continue to support them.
