Heading to the beach this weekend? Join us for a day by the sea and help keep our coastline clean!

Before settling in to enjoy the sunshine, we’re inviting our community to take part in a beach clean at Southwick Beach, as part of Sustainability Week 2026. It’s a simple way to make a big difference to our environment, and a great activity for children to get involved in too.

There’ll be prizes to be won, plenty of fresh air, and the chance to meet others who care about our coastline.

You don’t need to bring anything; gloves, bags and litter pickers will be provided. All you need to bring is yourselves.

📅 Day: Saturday 20 June 2026
⏰ Time: 10am – 12pm
📍 Meeting point: Port Kitchen

We were proud to officially commission our first electric HGV (e-HGV) at Shoreham Port this week, a major milestone in our long-term decarbonisation strategy made possible in part by both the Depot Charging Grant and Zero Emission Truck Grant. Thank you to the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom for the ongoing partnership.

With six battery packs, a range of up to 300 km, rapid 2.5-hour charging via a 250 kW DC charger, and an impressive 666 hp / 2,400 Nm of torque, it represents a step-change in capability and sustainability. Our second e-HGV arrives later this year, with further fleet expansion plans in 2027.

If you'd like to know more about the progress we are making to decarbonise our operations, please join us for Sustainability Week 2026 👉https://pulse.ly/lrfut4fex4

Hear how we can clean up our beaches and beat the plastic problem together!

Join Anglers National Line Recycling Scheme on Friday 26 to find out more about the scale and impact of commercial and recreational fishing related litter on Sussex beaches, its route to recycling, and to showcase the innovative products plastic litter can be made into.

2025 saw the ANLRS and colleagues REAP UK conduct the most comprehensive survey of recreational and commercial fishing litter over 4 zones along the Sussex Coast. I will be making a presentation of our findings during Shoreham Port Sustainability Week on Friday 26th of June (see link) I will be shocked if you are not amazed by our findings and amazed if you are not shocked ! The data we have is unique and is in no small way a tribute to the superb work of our volunteers The Deans Beach & Environment VolunteersPlastic Free SeafordPlastic Free NewhavenLeave No Trace BrightonSelsey Beach Litter Ninjas Seven Sisters Country Park
Thanks to them all. So the data gives us answers, we now have to work out the questions to ask to reduce commercial fishing litter on our coast.

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who joined us for our 2026 Annual Public Meeting yesterday. Led by our Board Chair Catherine May and presentations from each of our Senior Leadership Team, they covered a wide range of topics, from our 2025 results to how we are meeting our Masterplan.

It was a great evening to showcase the developments that have taken place at the Port over the past year. We value all the questions that were asked, as stakeholder feedback plays an important role in our decision‑making.

We also spoke about our upcoming Sustainability Week, taking place from 20th–26th June 2026, featuring a wide range of free talks where you can discover how the Port, local charities, and businesses are working together to pursue a greener future.
