A first visit of type this morning with this lovely Czech Airlines Airbus 220-300. This aircraft can hold 149 passengers and was delivering football fans ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s UEFA Champions League clash with AC Sparta Praha this evening!

Christmas has officially begun at London Southend Airport with easyJet flying it’s inaugural flights to Rovaniemi - the capital of Lapland this week.

To celebrate we are fully in the Christmas spirit in the tower, however we need a name for our new controller, any ideas?

✈️ Today we welcomed N147DC here at London Southend Airport. This is a Douglas C-47A Skytrain (DC-3), a living piece of aviation history. 

Built in 1943, it was originally delivered to the USAAF as 42-100884, then served with the Royal Air Force as TS423 during WWII. 
Later it flew for the RAE (Royal Aircraft Establishment), helping test radar systems — even having a non-standard nose for a time. 
After being rescued from retirement, it became part of Aces High’s historic aircraft fleet, appearing in films and airshows — and finally re-registered as N147DC in 1998. Some of the films this DC-3 appeared in are: Catch 22, Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade, Saving Private Ryan and many more!

Quick trip to the London Southend Jet Centre ramp yesterday to see this beautiful A319neo ACJ. 1 of only 7 produced in the world!

Eyes to the skies! We are expecting Royal Air Force typhoon for a practice approach at 1040L. We are currently on Runway 23 so the aircraft will be approaching over Rochford and departing over Leigh-on-Sea.
