Unfortunately we will be operating a temporary timetable from Monday, 25 May, due to crew sickness.

We are working hard to resolve the issue and get the full service back in place as soon as possible.

The temporary timetable changes mean that, Monday to Saturday, the first crossing of the day from South Shields will be at 7.15am instead of 6.45am, and the last crossing from North Shields will be at 6.30pm.

The later crossings on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, when we usually operate until 10.50pm, will not be running until further notice.

Ferry tickets will be accepted on the Tyne and Wear Metro in the evening until the Ferry service resumes.

A training exercise has helped us rehearse our emergency procedures on the Ferry.

We conducted this in collaboration with the Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and Port of Tyne.

The scenario was that of a fire on board the vessel. The crew had to manage the incident while the vessel was filled with specialist non-toxic training smoke.

Members of staff played the role of passengers so that the crew could practice a safe evacuation of the boat alongside our South Shields landing.

We learned some excellent lessons from the exercise, underpinning our commitment to passenger and crew safety at all times.
