Based in the Cotswold Lakes, The Real Outdoor Xperience creates outdoor experiences that inspire stories of challenge, growth and adventure for individuals, couples, families and groups. One of the oldest, deepest and biggest lakes in the Cotswold Lakes, we have so much to offer the whole family, from Spectators, Fun, Skills, Qualifications, Volunteering and Career opportunities. Licensed by AALA,

the Adventurous Activities Licensing Authority, all staff are highly qualified and experienced instructors in RYA Sailing and Windsurfing and/or BCU Canoe and Kayak paddling. In addition, we offer a range of archery, tunnelling, team building, orienteering and bushcraft experiences for individuals, groups, schools, colleges and corporate organisations. The safety of yourself and your group is paramount, but what you will notice most is the fun, friendly, exciting and welcoming atmosphere. You are not just another person or group to us... You are like-minded friends who we want to help enjoy the outdoor experience with us.

Wet paws, warm fire, proper coffee. ☕🐾

The Lodge at Lake 12 is open all year and open to everyone — no booking, no activity, no membership needed. Just walk in. Dogs welcome across the whole site, and the Puppuccinos are on us.

Barista coffee, cakes (GF and vegan too), a wood burner for the cold days, and somewhere to park the bikes.

Coffee from Coffee Masters of Worcester — we tasted a lot of blends before we settled.
Meat from Jessie Smith’s, Cotswold butchers, straight onto the barbecue.
Cakes baked on site every week, gluten free and vegan included.
Locally sourced, made here, eaten by the lake.

Warm enough that most people are swimming without a wetsuit by now. Cold enough that you’ll feel properly awake for the rest of the day.

Evening swims 5:40pm to 7:40pm. Heated changing rooms and hot showers after.

There’s a shipwreck at the bottom of a Cotswold lake and you’ve got sixty minutes.

The Black Tide is our pirate ship escape room. The captain went down with her in the storm. His final challenge is still unsolved.
