Today's job is a wait and return in Islip and I'm currently parked close to the Church next to the village hall.
It's a lovely day to be in the Oxfordshire countryside but did you know...........?

1. Birthplace of a King 👑
Islip is famously the birthplace of Edward the Confessor, one of England’s last Anglo-Saxon kings. He was born here around 1005 and the village still celebrates this royal connection.

2. Historic Church with Royal Links ⛪
The parish church, St Nicholas Church, is believed to stand on or near the site of a chapel linked to Edward the Confessor’s birth. Parts of the current building date back to the 12th century.

3. Strong Norman & Medieval Roots 🏰
After the Norman Conquest, Islip became part of lands controlled by powerful Norman nobles. The village appears in the Domesday Book, showing its importance even then.

4. Close Ties to Oxford 🎓
Islip is just a few miles from Oxford, making it historically connected to the academic and cultural life of the university city while retaining its rural charm.
