This one was a little bit different. My client was the builder not the home owner of this new build. The bay window had a leak around the roof area of the bay. I was only there to IR scan all brick work above lead work on the bay roof. I was investigating for any moisture and abnormal thermal patterns that would suggest water ingress and a plausible cause to the leaking bay through the brickwork. I was unable to find any issues or abnormalities with the brickwork. I supplied a full Thermal report to my client.

I'm also able to check how well saddles fit. The first two images are of saddles that fitted well and had a nice even symmetrical heat pattern. The last two images are the same image of the same saddle except the last image has been put through software which allows me to assess the heat pattern in more detail. You can see how this saddle was a poorly fitting by the uneven heat transfer pattern.

This client was having a real headache, he was loosing a pint of water a day from the central heating system. They were just about to start ripping up the floor and removing skirting and plaster board when I was called in to do some thermal scans and luckily enough I didn't find any abnormal heat signatures or evidence of any leak. Which saved the client alot of time and money. The issue turned out to be a fault with the over flow in the boiler.
