A busy few days on the rails for the team.

Yesterday saw us collecting Lion from the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway and transporting her north for a week's visit to the North Tyneside Steam Railway.

As if that wasn't enough, we also turned No.5 around while on site.

That meant:

✅ Build a ramp
✅ Dismantle a ramp
✅ Build a ramp
✅ Dismantle a ramp
✅ Build a ramp
✅ Dismantle a ramp

All in a day's work for Martyn and Drew from Temp Plant Haulage

Then it was onto collecting and delivering a Mototok to keep the planes moving.

Another successful move with the right equipment for the job!
Two sets of narrow-body aircraft steps loaded effortlessly onto our new trailer.

The lifting bed has made the loading process significantly easier, improving both efficiency and safety when handling specialist equipment such as this.

This movement was completed in collaboration with Temp Plant Haulage, Barnoldswick, combining expertise and the right equipment to ensure the job was carried out smoothly and efficiently.

Just a couple of pictures showing Drew’s last two loads from last week.

Wow, what a busy week we’ve had, railway jobs coming out of our ears!

We've also been collaborating with Temp Plant Haulage, Barnoldswick and MR Cook Construction on some fantastic moves.

A big move from the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways at Dinas to Statfold Barn, a 32-ton K1 loco on our new trailer, pulled by Drew.

Then MRC Crane Hire pulled our rail trailer at standard gauge, collecting a 5-plank wagon from Beamish Museum and delivering it to Kirby Stephen East, before collecting a Dogfish wagon from Kirby Stephen East and delivering it to Appleby. After that, it was down to Luton to collect a 14-ton Push Back Tug and bring it back to Manchester.

Drew then went to collect a Water Service Unit at Manchester and deliver it to London Heathrow, with a backload of dollies.

It’s all go!

A few photos showing the wide variety of jobs our new Nooteboom trailer has already been tackling and what a versatile bit of kit it’s proving to be.

✅ First up, an 060 30-ton chassis with rails fitted and the winch doing the hard work to pull it safely on board.
✅ Next, a loading shovel.
✅ Then back onto GSE, where using our extension ramps we were able to efficiently load and unload a CLT8 loader.
✅ And finally although winter should be behind us, a de-icing rig transported safely and securely.

From GSE equipment, to rail vehicles, to heavy plant, this trailer continues to prove it can handle just about anything.

Another great collaboration with Temp Plant Haulage in Barnoldswick, working together to deliver specialist transport solutions safely and efficiently.

A big credit goes to our brilliant drivers, whose skill and professionalism make every job look easy.

Specialised Nooteboom ramp trailer, capable of loading Mototok towbarless remote pushback tractors without the need for lifting.

Extra long ramps reduce the loading angle, making this possible.

We have also successfully trial-loaded a TPX 1000E, again, with no lifting required.

The final Champ 70W has now left Manchester for London Gatwick, marking the completion of a major three week operation.
In total, 150 pieces of GSE were successfully relocated as part of the TUI / Unifi contract at London Gatwick.

This has been an outstanding team effort from start to finish. Completing a project of this scale ahead of the start-up date demonstrates the versatility, coordination, and commitment of everyone involved.

A sincere thank you to TCR Group for entrusting Martyn Soames Transport Solutions with such a high profile contract.

Today we said goodbye to our trusty Atlas Wagon.

The Atlas Wagon has seen many years of dedicated service, supporting railway operations across a wide range of duties from essential civil engineering work to helping set up for our much-loved Santa Trains.

The wagon was officially retired in December 2025 following the introduction of our new Fassi Wagon into service.

We’re pleased to say that the Atlas Wagon is now heading to the Wensleydale Railway, where it will continue its story through further preservation. We wish it well in its next chapter.
