It has been long time.

When we arrived back here in the UK on the 1st of February we sadly entered a period that has brought much pain.

We lost a very precious father, father-in-law and Oupa in February.

Since then we are dealing with Lasting Power of Attorney issues.

Believe me the grey areas of the law are very obvious and quite outrageous. And the law: they don’t favour sibling division.

Our travels are on hold for now. We are at a wonderful campsite in North Lincolnshire. Little lake full of fish. Beautiful grounds. Ablutions could be bigger. 15 pitches and only 2 toilets and 2 showers in men and women’s sections. No wash up area or laundry facilities.

But we manage. It is quiet. Right in the middle of farms.

It is lovely seeing spring appear. The r**e fields are a delight. Blossoms are sublime and the trees showing the start of new leaves.

Thank you all for staying with us during this time.

2 months and 8 days travelling through this magnificent country. Every mile a Blessing.

Every turn of the wheels has taken us to some really beautiful towns.

The passing views have been utterly delightful. Whether driving through sunshine, rain or past snowy mountains, we have enjoyed and been so delighted.

We have stayed longer in Aires and have taken our time to enjoy our retirement days. There has been no rush.

Each of us have done what we enjoy. Troy taking short hikes with Simba or going off on days hikes. Paul and I just relax, read, watch movies and chat.

These days have been bliss. We have had thunderstorms, wind but no snow. Lived through temperatures of -5 in the van and yet nothing has deterred us from loving this life.

My health took a turn which saw me in hospital for a few hours. Their medical system is absolutely wonderful. All good now. But we are thankful for their service.

Tomorrow or the next day we will make our way back to Calais through more of this amazing country.

We have not yet decided which route to take. For now, we are just enjoying the sunshine on this windy day, as the rain is soon on it’s way.

Last day of the year. Can’t believe how time flies. Thinking back on this year…

No more bricks and mortar. Now our home is on wheels, which have taken us to amazing places. It is all fantastic. No. Life isn’t roses on the road. It has it’s ups and downs. But, the views and wonderful towns and villages make up for it.

We chose this way of life understanding the limitations. We have learned on the way that you take each day as it comes.

From our last post, we have spent quiet, lazy days in lovely Aires. We are in Saìnt Gaurdain, just arrived and will stay for a few days.

Weather wise. It is colder. We had one day of awesome sunshine between xmas and now. It seems Sunday onwards we will see the sun again.

Driving away from Carcassonne on route we were blessed with sight of the Pyrenees. Such huge mountains. Troy has itchy feet. Planning to hike in the snow….

We all set here at the Aire. Troy has taken Simba for a walk.. we are drinking tea and wondering what 2026 will bring.

A few photos from the last days. The snow capped mountains were spectacular.

Yesterday and today we saw the farmers protest, the roundabouts set alight using dung and hay bails. Tractors parked across the highway blocking traffic. The riot police were out. Yes, caused havoc. Thankfully our route missed delays.

Hello from a grey and rainy France. We are well. Still on the move enjoying winter, well a very mild one in the most beautiful country.

From Apt we went to Vallebrégues. Stayed close to the Rhone River. It was extremely quiet. Poor Smudge got stuck in a tree there. Poor guy but he is safe and still king of the bed.

Troy and Paul visited Nimes. Such a beautiful place.

We left Vallèbregues and drove to Saint Jean de Guard. Also situated close to the river River Gardon d’Alès. We had a couple of quiet restful days. One sunny day. Yesterday Troy and Paul visited Grotto de Tarbuc 20 minutes away. It had rained most of the time we were there. I got a knock on the door just after the guys left, a warning to leave the Aire as a weather warning was in place. I panicked 😅. Phoned the Grotto to ask that Paul must phone urgently. I packed up, did some rather magic moves to be ready to move to a parking place in the town. The guys arrived and we were escorted out and the Aire was locked up. We received a bottle of beer and a désolé (sorry). We spent an uneventful night and left today.

We are at an Aire just outside Béziers. Tomorrow we will go explore. It seems like a beautiful place.

5 days to festivities. We will keep it quiet. Ha ha… hopefully we will. Just a day in and the choice is finger foods. Apparently the weather stays cloudy and rainy.

We are still here in Apt. Wonderful place. The guys have hiked and biked and I have “writed”. 🤭

We went into Avignon. A delightful city with an inner old city behind walls. We were quietly pleased.

Apt is known for its candied fruit and we took a visit to one of the shops. Sone of you may have seen Paul Grant post.

Tonight the sunset was glorious. We have had truly great weather. Some rain and cloudy days. The temperatures at night are low but during the days 12 to 18’s.

We leave here on Tuesday (laundry and housework day Monday)and make our way to Nimes. It certainly looks like a beautiful place.
