Please welcome the newest member of the Smart Waste team, mobile chemist and tech assessor, Karl.

Karl has already settled into his new role brilliantly, helping customers with enquiries and also supporting other members of the team with his expertise. He brings with him a wealth of experience in the waste industry, from various previous roles, including onsite chemist and environmental officer.

🎓 Back to school for Team Smart Waste - no PE kit required!

Our team recently trained on Digital Waste Tracking, which became a legal requirement for permitted waste receiving sites in England on 1st October. The Environment Agency requires it - we haven’t taken up paperwork for fun! 😉

⏱️ Waste receipts must be digitally reported within two working days.
🔍 Accurate waste descriptions, HP hazard codes and relevant POPs information are essential.
📄 Existing consignment notes are still required - paper hasn’t retired yet!

🔥 Gas bottles. Great when you need them… slightly more awkward when you don’t.

Another recent job for the Smart Waste team involved the safe collection and disposal of unwanted gas bottles.

And before anyone asks – no, they definitely shouldn’t just be popped in the general waste bin!

Gas cylinders can still contain residual gas and remain pressurised even when they appear empty, so they need to be handled, transported and disposed of correctly.

Luckily, awkward waste is kind of our thing.
