May 15 - June 15 is Tourette's Syndrome Awareness Month, and one of the common misconceptions surrounding Tourette's and tic disorders is that people experiencing tics may be faking them or doing them all to seek attention. However, for many people, it's often the case that they suppress the tics as much as possible when in company, and they are much worse when they are alone. The tics seen by the public are generally just the tip of the iceberg, and the tics that simply cannot be suppressed.

So please, if you haven't anything kind to say, then don't say anything at all. Get educated and raise awareness!!!

If you are feeling alone as you try to navigate the SEND journey, then please know that at PAL Community CIC, we are here to listen, to support, advise and most importantly to understand. We run monthly support group meetings where you are free to vent, to talk, to rage, to cry and to meet new friends and to network with parents in similar positions. Our aim is to educate and to empower and to give you back that fire in your belly that you need to fight for your rights.

Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 3rd June, at the Gerard Arms (function room), St. Helens, from 6.30 p.m. onwards.

If you would like to talk or want more information, DM, call/text Jane on 07456165589 or Nic on 07305591299 or alternatively email us at [email protected]

The Natwest Bank (St.Helens branch) run a book recycling scheme, and customers using the bank can make a small donation to take away one of the books. The proceeds made are kindly donated to PAL Community CIC to raise money towards opening our own safe sensory space within the local community. So far, they have donated around £400, which is absolutely amazing. We are asking for book donations so that we can continue to raise money toward our cause. If you have any books that you wish to donate, you can drop them off directly at the bank, or you can contact us, and we will collect or organise for you to drop them off at a different location.
